I agree. It was always going to be much more difficult to get anything passed in the Senate. There is always compromise on House and Senate versions of Bills. Always.
Jabo is a legitmate big stick in the Senate. I believe what he puts out will get done. Then it will get worked out with hopefully Jack's bill.
Listen, if you get increased board representation and football back, it is a win. And a big one.
This is great, great news!

Hit those emails and phone lines this week. Let your senators know you're watching and Jabo needs their support

Don't loose heart over what appears to be "only a couple of additions." Remember the proposed bill would have these wild card trustees nominated by the NAS. So if we work to build a NAS with board members that believe in a #freeuab, they can shatter the houndstooth ceiling and make a positive mark on the board.

Unless I'm missing something about this bill, this would only fracture the system more ... which I guess is progress?

Well, lobbing a hand grenade into a meeting would be illegal.

Well, lobbing a hand grenade into a meeting would be illegal.
And the clean up would be messy

I could deal with the mess. Anything we can do to pry some power away and add someone to be accountable is a good thing. A journey starts with a single step and all that.

RE: Jabo Waggoner Files UA BOT Reform Bill in Senate
I think the initial responses to this were probably the right ones, despite what Williams says. It is like putting a bandaid on a gaping wound. This won't bring football back, or be a huge benefit to UAB.
If you believe the official story, it wasn't the BOT who killed football, it was the UAB president. If you believe the alternative version, it wasn't the full BOT, it was the UAB president, backed by or under orders of a select few powerful ******** on the BOT. Adding more members does not change that dynamic.
It wasn't that long ago that UAB had no representatives on the BOT. They added a few, and if anything, it has gotten worse. I can't see how adding two more changes anything.

Adding 2 who are not selected by the current BOT might force a little more dialogue if nothing else. But, like most, I still think anything less than equal representation is kicking the can.

Perhaps it is also something that could make the BOT start to squirm more.
More squirming = more concessions.
