Salaries on rise for new grads
Nearly two-thirds of employers—an all-time high—are planning to increase starting salaries to bachelor’s degree graduates from the Class of 2015, according to results from NACE’s Job Outlook 2015 survey.
Last year, 59 percent of employers planned to offer to increase starting salaries to bachelor’s degree graduates from the Class of 2014. (See Figure 1.)
The average salary increase amount has somewhat leveled, with those planning increases this year at an average amount of 3.6 percent. Last year’s planned increase was 4.3 percent for Class of 2014 graduates, up from the 3.7 percent increase for Class of 2013 graduates.
By industry, engineering services firms are most likely to increase bachelor’s degree salaries with 100 percent of respondents planning to do so. (See Figure 2.) Other industries with a high percentage of employers planning to increase starting salaries are food and beverage manufacturing and computer and electronics manufacturing.
