ESPN is reporting that Shaka wants the Texas job badly. It is him vs. Marshall at Wichita State. Hope to say bye bye to Shaka.

If Shaka leaves Anthony Grant and Capel are both available.

Man, I was hoping he would go to an SEC school, so then I could watch the Aggies kick his butt!

I really hope Marshall doesn't go to Texas. I like him...and I hate Texas.

Would Mike Rhoades be in the conversation after only 1 year at Rice. I think he is their best option, but its tough to leave after one year.

It'll be interesting to see where Texas would rather go, Shaka or Gregg Marshall. Honestly, if I had to guess, I think they'll try to get Marshall first. Despite my hate for VCU fans, I think it's good when mid-major coaches stick with their programs. However, there are just certain jobs that are hard to turn down. Texas is one of those.

FWIW, it wouldn't shock me to see Billy Donovan make a move to the NBA this year. If that happens, you've got to believe the UF job is Shaka's. Lastly, if Shaka does leave, I actually think he VCU job would go to Will Wade.

Won't believe Shaka is leaving until he takes the podium elsewhere.

Texas is to VCU as VCU is to Christopher Newport. Texas gets what Texas wants. Why they would want Shaka is beyond me but I get to watch his mediocre coaching all season

And 1 and done doesn't pay his salary guarantee they are not happy with the return on their money

I can't imagine Texas would pass on Marshall to take Smart. I guess stranger things have happened.

VCU is in a tourney next year at MSG with Duke, Wisconsin, and Georgetown and their fans are heralding this as their entrance into the fraternity of BIG TIME teams, where they shake the bonds of mid-major schools forever.

We'll see if Shaka agrees with that.

Marshall is rumored to be very difficult to,work with which is why it's taken him so long to get any P5 offers. Shaka on the other hand is a PR dream with results that are great. We know he is more style than substance, but that style is landing recruits that win in non BCS leagues at a high rate, regardless of coaching strategy. thus making him look like a great choice to many. Makes sense.
