RE: UAB announces new long-term contract for Men’s Basketball Coach Jerod Haase
Of the non P5 schools, the only coaches that currently make more are:
1. Pastner - Memphis - $2.7M
2. Wright - Villanova - $2.4M
3. Marshall - Wichita St - $1.7M
4. Cronin - Cincinnati - $1.6M
5. Smart - VCU - $1.5M
6. Ollie - UConn - $1.3M
7. Few - Gonzaga - $1.2M

You know, you're right. I didn't even realize that.

Define get it done.
We had a good run in the conference tournament & won 1 difficult NCAA tournament game.
Without a strong SOS next year we may have to win the conference tournament to have a chance to make it back.
Good thing though, we may be able to win a lot more games which may help boost our RPI.

Sorry if this has been clarified, but how much of a raise did he receive with this new contract?

Getting into the NCAA tournament and winning a difficult game is getting it done. We haven't done that in nearly 10 years. Haase has a solid chance to get in a couple more times with the current team if they continue to progress and he fills in holes in the team.

Old contract $525,000 I believe.
So $475,000 increase.
Knowing the history of BOT approved salary increases makes you realize just how desperate they are to divert attention.

Yeah, I'm glad for Haase, but this is just diversion. Seems like they're trying to bury UAB football as fast as possible lol.

I suspect they will attempt to work on conference affiliation.
Not sure how they can do this though without CUSA booting us first.

So we just gave Haase $400,000 more than the next CUSA coach (give or take any changes)

Michael White's salary surprises me personally. La. Tech has the smallest athletic budget in CUSA if I recall.

He'll get a raise this year if he stays. He is best to leave. His senior class that got him to where he is is gone.

I believe Floyd makes more. If you are going by the USA today link, it is not a complete link.
According to an article last April, Floyd makes $600,00 per year.
Quote:Floyd’s UTEP contract expires next year and does not include a penalty clause if he terminates the deal. His guaranteed salary is around $600,000.
