I hate winter. Ranger, you said you lived in Florida and it got old after a while. Winter does that to me.

I agree. I have lived in Florida (several times as an Air Force brat and Army guy), Hawaii, and California. Every place has its pros and cons, too hot, too cold, too many critters, etc.
Been back to Toledo for almost 17 years now after my Army career (that's hard to believe). 3 years to go and we are hitting the road full time in the Unicat until we can't stand it any longer, then pick a final place to grow old(er). No more Toledo winters!!!

Repeat this morning.... had 4 inches on the ground. Took pictures and it could convince anyone that it looks like a beautiful white Christmas morning...

Seriously, if we want to build a pipeline how about a system for moving flood waters to the west and southwest from the rest of the country? CA has 5% snowpack with a water reserve for one year . . . and they provide 25% of the nation's food.

Because it's not the excess "flood water" they'd be taking. Given scales of economies, they'd be outbidding locals for the Great Lake's water.
It's not exactly a chicken and egg thing, they provide 25% (not to mention being a bread basket for Asian countries) because they took the water. No water, let them move the agricultural operations to where the water already exists and California can peacefully return to dust.
