So if you think the basketball supporters is the minority on this board, what you're spewing Cajun is only pushing that minority further away. You need to ease up with the rhetoric and stop with the "I know all mentality!"

Fight the fight but don't alienated those who want to fight but may not share the same deep passion for football as some of us have for basketball. We're not dummies.

This. There really shouldn't be anyone taking sides on this. If the MVC wants us and it is the best available option, and CUSA kicks us out due to us not being able to get football reinstated in time, then it is a really good alternate route to take. I don't really see why anyone would be arguing or disagreeing over this. It doesn't mean you stop fighting to get football reinstated.

And yes the MVC is a superior basketball conference to CUSA right now and has been for a few years. Travel sucks, but there's nothing we can do about it. CUSA still has some really solid programs and can turn itself around and pass the MVC, but who knows if that would happen either. MVC baseball is equal or better than CUSA. Soccer would take a hit, but the only sports that drive conference affiliation are football and basketball, so I don't know what to say to soccer people.

As far as attendance goes, I don't think it would change much positively or negatively. We barely have basketball rivalries left in CUSA as it is.

RE: What kind of UAB Fan Are You?
I bet C-USA will tell us this week that we are good for the 2015-2016 season. C-USA provides a home for our football team and we will need that when football returns. C-USA also gives us a position to move up the conference ladder the next time realignment comes around. C-USA may very well put us on the right side of the division line when reclassification comes along. Meantime, we need to all be writing the state reps and senators about our bills.

This is bigger than football, basketball, ethics bowl or Rhodes Scholars. This is the battle to control our own destiny as a university. If the Blazer genocide is carried out, there's not even an accredited MBA program, much less an athletics team of any sort. Our daily battling ensures we have the ability to control our own destiny.

It had to be said again.

I'm not a basketball fan nor a football fan nor any single sport fan. I'm a Blazer fan.

I don't care if you came to love UAB because of synchronized swimming back years ago. However you became a Blazer fan, everyone has their own unique story and experience. But ultimately, we are all on the same team.

And at the end of the day, we are all fighting for the same thing: the right of self-determination and the betterment of UAB in EVERY facet.

RE: What kind of UAB Fan Are You?
I remember the very first UAB basketball game vs Nebraska in November 1978...I was a student during the mid to late 1980's during our peak under Coach Bartow...I saw the success we had at the BJCC and saw Bartow Arena built before I graduated...I was there on Jan 26, 1985 when 16,866 fans crammed the BJCC to watch UAB vs VCU - the largest crowd ever for a Sun Belt game (still have the ticket stub)

I want football too BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE of basketball...basketball has suffered from the level of competition in C-USA these last few years...I love the history we have with ODU, WKU and Charlotte and would like to continue playing them but past those programs C-USA is mostly RPI Hades.

Bottom line: UAB basketball should never be harmed under any circumstances

RE: What kind of UAB Fan Are You?
I became a UAB fan the day Coach Bartow was hired. I think trying to turn football vs basketball into a zeo sum game is a loser. I have come to love UAB. There are two reasons I want to rerun to Alabama when I retire-UAB and he little red-headed monster my daughter gave birth to.

That being said, the only thing I care about is freeing UAB from the evil weasels on the BOT. I will give up football, basketball-ANYTHING to see Ray Watts consigned to the dustbin of history and Bryant, St. John, Johns, Espy and co trying to figure out how to keep UAT solvent as UAB's enrollment rockets past them, or in lieu of that sent to federal prison for their corrupt dealings and influence peddling.

We are the light on the hill in Alabama, proving that in spite of the BOT and Watts great things can be accomplished when we refuse to accept the limits of the vested interests of our state. Oh and when these weasels go away who will be there to waste money on worthless tools like Ray Ray's PR firm

that is all

Nobody has given up. Some of us have accepted reality and understand that the fight go get football back is going to likely be a long one. We are willing to engage in that fight but during the meantime we want what is best for our other programs.

That seems to be their some of these guys m.o. Because someone doesn't see things exactly like they do, they're called quitters, cowards and accused of giving up. According to them, if you care a damn bit about basketball, then you are against football. They scream about sticking together and unity, but they are the ones driving a wedge in the fan base.

Understanding that the fight is likely to be a long one, that more than likely all we'll get in Montgomery this time around is half a loaf at best, does not imply giving up on getting football back until such time as it becomes clear that it is impossible and not going to happen. People are being called quitters when they give up before the fight is done.

I don't have a problem with trying to figure out a soft landing for our programs. I'm certain that Shannon Ealey has been doing just this for months now.

I don't want a split between us. Our styles and approaches may differ, but we all want the best for UAB Athletics. The problem lies in the varying degrees of committment to different parts of it. Some people would sacrifice football altogether, or their view is that it is already lost and cannot be salvaged, or they simply never valued it much to start with. Others want it back above all, because we need it to stay in our conference, because we love football, because of our desire to spit in the eye of the scum on the BoT.

Everyone needs to just try to get along, to do whatever we can to make things better. It also wouldn't hurt for a bit of a reality check, understanding that damn little that gets said here will make a speck of difference to what actually happens.

Watts pr firm threw some bait and some of you bit. There is no money in the MVC, we don't have money to waste on traveling expenses. CUSA has just went though realignment, so of course it's going to struggle.

Can't understand why y'all would believe watts is actually in negotiations to get UAB into another conference. He doesn't care about UAB athletics.

He has yet to offer anything of substance to repair what he has broken, and it is not a priority for him.
