The AAC? If we're going with an unrealistic option, let's go big. ACC or bust baby!

The MVC has been a multi-bid league for several years now. And the numbers show from top to bottom the MVC is a better basketball conference. Why do you feel the AAC would be better for UAB? Most of the AAC schools are just as far away as the MVC schools say for Memphis and Tulane.

I guess what I am saying is it appears MVC would be most beneficial to mens BB. Obviously, the mens BB team would have the budget to fly to all road games. However, in MVC, EVERY road game would be a considerable bus ride (so. Illinois would be closest and I am guessing 7 hours on a bus, maybe more). Bus ride to northern Iowa or Wichita state, would be 12-14+ hours. As an athletic dept. we can't expect the budget will allow flights for m/w tennis, soccer, softball, baseball, track, volleyball, etc. I would expect MVC conference tv and revenue payouts to be less than CUSA and expenses to the same or higher. I would expect the AAC revenues to be higher than CUSA and MVC and we already has familiarity and rivalries with many in the AAC.

If a non football UAB is in any league that has football, then UAB most likely not share in that the football portion of that TV revenue. I suspect we will be cut out of it in CUSA next year if we are allowed to stay an additional league. It's money. People look for reasons not to share it.

I would expect nothing different. Why should we get a share of football revenue we did not contribute to?

Well, I wasn't sure it was clear to some since they were comparing TV revenue of non football conferences with TV revenue of football conferences.

That would be why we want to stay in C-USA and get our football program back.

We get that but if that isn't an option we need to have other options available. What do we do if we are expelled from CUSA? Shutdown all athletics until football is brought back?

I'll say it yet again. Let me break it down for you so it's easy.

1. First option, and the one I want until it is impossible, is our football program back and playing in C-USA, preferably in 2016 under Coach Clark. It is my opinion that this should be the preferred option of all UAB fans.

2. Once C-USA gives the word that it plans to eject us, we'll need another conference. I very much doubt that C-USA will tell us in June that we're out as of then. I fully expect a year to transition.

3. If we don't get that we will indeed need somewhere stat. At that point the MVC is probably as good an option as we'll have. I'm certain that Shannon Ealey has been working his butt off regarding this, and he'll weigh the options and do the best he can. So far as we know, there have been no invitations, and if there have been feelers and tentative offers, we don't know from who. At that point the MVC is fine, and probably as good an offer as we'll get - but we don't know. I'd add that I have not tried to analyze the pluses and minuses and options to all the various conferences regarding all our various programs.

There was a throwaway line in an article and you guys have gone MWC bonkers because you see it as the best option, and not so incidentally as the best place for men's basketball, which is your prime interest. I see winning the fight and staying in C-USA as the best option.

Is there not room for trying for both as things unfold? Do you not understand that for many of us folding our tents on football is the bad guys winning, and we unwilling to accept that? Can we quit this nonsense on a message board for a day or two now, since nothing we say here is going to make a difference and we have no facts whatsoever, or is there not room for that since fans on message boards are inherently opinionated and unwilling to listen to anything that conflicts with their opinion and desires?

First it's MVC not MWC. Second, you're the one that needs to break it down for yourself, good job. Third, no one is saying fold the tents on football but that's is how you're choosing to interpret it.

Let me break this down that it is easy for you to understand, no basketball supporter is saying we should go to another conference regardless of what happens with football. And I mean no one is insinuating that.

What we want is a good home for basketball and our other sports if your first option doesn't happen. If CUSA choose to keep us another year or keep us period, I'm pretty sure all basketball supporters would be just fine with that. But if CUSA chooses not to keep us after the 2015-16 season, then we want the best options for our other sports.

That's all the basketball supporters are saying. Some of you are making it out to be we want to be in another conference regardless of what happens with football and that simply isn't true and nor are we implying that. Talking about the MVC and saying it's a better option only implies if UAB is expelled from CUSA. It doesn't mean we're have gone bonkers.

But for those that keep saying UAB Basketball will be reduced to playing in the Sun Belt or OVC if we are kicked out of CUSA, that doesn't appear to be the case. Whether you want to accept this or not, UAB will appear to have a couple of options that are better than that.

Now I hope that is easy enough for you to understand.

Go Blazers!!!
