This is just what this team does... somebody always steps up. Today it was Madison & Watts getting it done off the bench. We weren't scoring so we turned up the intensity on rebounds & defense and got points off turnovers. ISU was on theier heels, we were the aggressor. It was pretty obvious on tv that ISU players were bickering and fighting amongst themselves... they didn't take UAB seriously & when we put up a fight they didn't know what to do.

I think UCLA will come into our game with that chip still on its shoulder from so many questioning how they even got in. But I think UAB has more to prove & want to avenge their earlier loss from this season. It will be another close one.

It was apparent to me that ISU thought they were going to roll UAB, and, being real, many people expected the same. When things start going south, they didn't panic, but they were pretty frustrated and it showed.

UCLA isn't having any of that. They've been disrespected by the lingering questions concerning them getting a bid in the first place. Sure, they'll still come into the game with the pride of being UCLA and all that, but they're not looking over anyone even if it was a team they've already played and beat. I understood what UAB needed to do to beat ISU, but I don't know the first thing about UCLA this season. I didn't even catch the game when our guys played them.

The ISU fans are so butthurt. While today was a great win, we honestly didn't play our best. The UAB team that played MTSU last Saturday would've won today by double digits.

It's killing me how little credit UAB is getting on some of these forums lol. This was UAB's SECOND WORST SHOOTING GAME OF THE YEAR AND THEY WON. 2nd worst overall % and 2nd worst 3 point %. Worst shooting night was @UNC where we shot 30.5%. Shot 34.8% against ISU and 35.3% against Wisconsin.

Not sure how else to spell it out for these people.

Screw 'em. Just win the next one. That'll tend to shut them up.

...and Tosin Mehinti didn't score, either. He was plenty busy helping to shut down Niang.

Definitely NOT our best game played. We have a HUGE opportunity to put a great game together tomorrow.

Beating UCLA and making the round of sixteen might even make the LaTech people shut the hell up. They won't quit crying, though. I wish I had the crying towel concession for that fanbase. I never thought that I would say another conference fan base was worse than Memphis, but they are.

EXACTLY! This win wasn't a fluke game where the lower seed team was hot from 3 point land and the other team had an off-night. UAB turned the ball over more than ISU and only hit 3 3-pointers. The hustle in rebounding, along with superior coaching won the game. The better team won Thursday. This was no upset. Upsets are when the better team loses.

Is it possible for a team to lose a basketball game on their own instead of the officials losing it for them? La Tech and ISU fans alike are claiming we got all the calls the whole game and how unfair it was.

MTSU took it in stride.

I thought it was odd that we were getting more calls than Iowa state, but under Haase, we have been pretty consistent in not fouling much. 15-10 fouls and 11 fts to 7 fts aren't big discrepencies in my book. They also had a guy credited with 6 blocks and 1 foul. I don't really give a crap what these people think. We keep winning, they keep whining. Fine by me.

the officials pretty much let both teams play. The fouls were fouls. They let some hand checking and rough play go both ways. They have no room to complain. LT fouled like crazy and were call for it. Don't want to get called for a foul don't whack a player from two directions at once. Anderson was a master and creating havoc without fouling much. Haase is also doing a good job of teaching team defense. One more thing. Wen you are in a zone you don't foul as much.

After years of going to Memphis among other places these folks just need to STFU.

How often does one see any fan say "My team lost badly, but the officiating was outstanding"? It is said that "statistics are for losers", and perhaps so is a claim of bad officiating.

We had some AMAZING defensive zone possessions. Forcing them to shoot that off balance 3 late the end of the game was the best defensive possessions we've had all year.

In regards to La. Tech: It is one thing to be upset for a day or two over a game. Happens to everyone. It is an entirely different thing to be calling the other school cheaters and accusing them of throwing the F_U games (not even sure why we would?). I've never seen so many fans whine this much for this long.
