Apology to Chasse Conque and Chancellor Anderson
I have said on many occasions that Chasse Conque was not going to be allowed to be his own man, and that he would not be allowed to make a coaching change. Obviously I was wrong on both counts, and I publicly apologize to both he and Chancellor Anderson. I also said he was hired to be a puppet, and I was wrong again. I have questioned his complete lack of experience for the job, and while that is still a question mark, he has made one of the toughest decisions an AD will have to make. I'm sure he and the chancellor both are fine people, but again I have questioned the chancellor's desire to have a good athletic program. That too is still debatable, but this latest decision looks perhaps like things may be changing.
Chasse's first real decision I'm sure was a very hard one for him to make. Dismissing a friend would surely be one of the toughest things a person could have to do. One thing I learned about him now is, he does have balls.
While I am hoping for the best for this program that I have totally missed this past year, I will obviously be watching to see how Chasse can turn the attendance around, but I think he has made the first move to do this. It won't happen overnight, but hopefully a new coach and a new direction will get things started, and I will return.
Chasse does have my support, but as I do for any new coach, AD, player, or politician, I will be watching and being critical when I think it is needed. I hope anyone offended by any of my remarks will accept this apology.
I too wish Coach Shields the very best of luck and success for the future. One thing we can all agree on is , he's a fine man.
