Surprises:
NJ - I would have thought that 'Nova or Syracuse would have beaten out the Hall.
PA - I can see Villanova, but I would have thought that Pitt would have a bigger following, given Pitt is a bigger name (admittedly thanks to football) and 'Nova's proximity to NJ (I imagine many 'Nova fans had votes that counted in NJ).
Delaware - I would have thought that UMD would have carried this state.
Virginia - I am surprised UVA lost to VCU.
Mass - I am amazed that harvard beat BC.
Vermont and New Hampshire - I am amazed that either Syracuse or UConn didn't carry these states.
Rhode Island - I can see Prov., but I would imagine that UConn is in the running.
Washington - I can't believe that Udub lost to the Zags.
Alaska - Come on! There *has* to be at least one basketball fan in the state.
Iowa - I am surprised that Iowa lost this battle. I think of Iowa having a better tradition and more fans in general.
North Carolina - I am amazed that UNC lost this battle. I think of UNC having a bigger fan base AND a more NC-centric fan base.
Tennessee - I am surprised that the Vols didn't carry the state. I bet when football picks up again, Vandy and Memphis will lose fans to the Vols, and that will translate into more basketball fans. Cheering for UTk football and Vandy/Memphis basketball would be awkward.
South Carolina - USCarolina has more fans (in general) and a stronger history in basketball, so I'm surprised that Clemson has more fans. It might be the ACC affiliation (i.e. it's easy to get excited when Duke and UNC come to town)
DC - It amazes me that *anyone* could like the Hoyas...ever.
