Conference Affiliation
It's a topic central to a lot of the talk that has been in other threads and even on other forums, but I wanted to make this thread to house all of the talk and also keep it from making other threads trail off topic.

That said, I personally believe C-USA is a good conference that's on the verge of establishing itself as the best of the smaller conferences in football. Basketball, however, is a different monster. A fair number of the teams in the conference are traditionally good, but, collectively, it's not a strong conference. It'd get stronger in that regard, I'm sure, but that's probably a few years off at least.

While I think it'd be great if UAB got into a better basketball conference, my greatest fear with conference affiliation is the impact it has on the department as a whole. What'd happen to the other strong programs we have? Would coaches and players start leaving? What about basketball itself?

How do you guys feel about C-USA and the alternatives right now? What reservations do you have about being in another conference? Do you believe there will be another major conference shakeup soon in the future?

I like CUSA it provides an opportunity to win the league in Basketball, Football, Soccer, Softball, and Baseball. That allows our athletics department to be well rounded. If we get kicked to the curve (totally our fault) I think every sport will be adversely impacted. Besides we are just now getting acquainted with the new schools in CUSA. This is just horrible but with all that said I hope my boys beat ISU Thursday because the longer they are playing the longer UABs horrible decision is in the spot light and just maybe we create some more Blazer magic.
