Marching Bucs
I figure let's talk about something positive. The Marching Bucs are back. The uniforms have been shown off (and they're sharp), and they're building a band. I'm excited to see what they do for pregame. My hope long term is a march from the music building to the stadium, but while at whatever temporary home they may play in, I hope they can work it out and march in through the parking lots. As for pregame, what would you all like to see played? Should they do the alma mater pregame, or hold it until postgame and have the team, and cheerleaders go to the that end of the field for the playing of it? Perhaps the Tennessee Waltz (which ETSU's arrangement is the best in the state). What should they form for the team to run through? Should it be the E? What in game songs should they do for first downs, loss of yardage plays, sacks, etc... Should they be more original or borrow from other schools?
I know some of you are Debbie Downers and don't want the band at all, but to me it's an integral part of the college gameday experience.

RE: Marching Bucs
I saw the promo video they had on Facebook the other day. I am just as excited about a marching band as I am football. Fall doesn't seem like fall to me without watching a band on the field or hearing them practice. I have no idea about the logistics of what they should play and all that, but I'm really looking forward to seeing any of it!

Great to just start talking about this again! I am excited to hear the Marching Bucs again. People see that and it not only represents the University but it lets the entire region shine. I am not up on all the specifics of that they should perform but I will enjoy everything they do. The participation and the opportunities for the area's young people make it all worth while and it is irreplaceable.

RE: Marching Bucs
Well for the sake of discussion it might not be bad to listen to other marching bands out there and see what you like. Hopefully the new band director (name escapes me but he's an ETSU alum) would be open to listening to things that fans want to hear during the games.
As much as it pains me, I do think one thing they should do is Sweet Caroline. Instead of the bah bah bah, they could train the crowd to say "Go Bucs Go." I just read where a bunch of area high school bands are heading to Chicago today to perform in the Windy City St. Patrick's Day parade, which is an amazing opportunity for them. The state of Tennessee and Southwest Virginia have traditionally had some great marching bands, and not just D-B. We'll have some great kids feeding that program.

Really excited about this. As a former band member at Dobyns Bennett I would have loved to have marched at ETSU but I didn't have that chance. It will open up some great opportunities for some very talented musicians.

Not a musician here, but what a wonderful opportunity for these young people to do something that will go with them for life. And, just think of the future high school band directors that will come from this revived program. Go Marching Bucs!

DO YOU HAVE A LINK TO THE UNI PICTURES, I HAVEN'T SEEN THEM.

MUSIC BUILDING MAY NOT BE THE MUSIC BUILDING :) THEY MAY BE MOVING TO THE NEW FINE ARTS CENTER.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE ON TENNESSEE WALTZ.

What should they form for the team to run through? Should it be the E? What in game songs should they do for first downs, loss of yardage plays, sacks, etc...

DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT THOSE SHOULD BE!
Should they be more original or borrow from other schools?

Don't have a clue on how to translate this to marching band style, but the new Bucs team played this song a LOT at their scrimmages last year.

Here is a link to a picture of the uniforms. I am the head drum major for the 2015 Marching Bucs and I can't be more excited to help lead this program back to our university! A few things that I can say to help you guys out. The new director of athletic bands is Dr. Joe Moore, and yes he is an ETSU alumnus. We are already looking at having at upwards of 160 members this year which is a fantastic start, and more and more students keep contacting us to join every day! We are just in the beginning stages of even thinking about show design concepts, but I can assure you that the Waltz will be played at every single game. However, the arrangement that you all are referring to is generic and honestly anyone can buy and play it. Those that do are MTSU, UT, local high schools like Sullivan East, and even App State does for some strange reason. We are in the process right now of arranging our own version that will be played by the Marching Bucs and the Marching Bucs alone!! Everything that is being done right now is in a first class manner, but we need all of your help. The marching band may have left ETSU in 2003 when the football program was dropped, but the music department and especially the band program NEVER left. If you want to show how anxious you are to have the Marching Bucs back this fall, come out and support our students in our closing spring semester Wind Ensemble concert! It is April 16th at 7:30 in Culp Auditorium. Dr. Noland attends every concert and I know for a fact he and all of our students would love to see you there! GO BUCS!!!

BucWild, thanks for posting! I marched for ETSU in the 90s and was in the basketball Pep Band, and this gets me pumped!

How 'bout some original music exclusive to ETSU? The music department could write something that makes you think ETSU with a catchy tune that people would whistle, hum, think Bucs the way Rocky works for
Vols. Tennessee has the best fight song anywhere. I'd like to see my school make a dent in that.

They're putting work in now. I would expect them to keep it fairly simplistic in nature in year one for halftime shows and in the stands. Fight song, Tennessee Waltz, Alma Mater, National Anthem, some solid drum cadences, etc...
