Shows you how competitive this league actually was all year. Not rated as such but much parity..

Not sure how much of a chance MTSU has today, fourth game in four days and UAB playing at home. It would be a great story, though, if they could pull it off.

MTSU helps us more. RPI and perception wise but their coach is one of the more respected coaches in the nation. He has advocated for ODU as an at large and in my opinion could have some influence if they win.

Yes. These "Empty Sue" threads are responsible for ODU's two losses against MTSU. Let's hope this is the last "Empty Sue" thread. ODU needs to beat them.
I'm serious. Don't let it happen again.
As for the tournament, who said anything about VB. I said Norfolk should host the tournament. The Scope is just as old as Birmingham-Jefferson and has undergone a few renovations. Let's face it, the fans of this version of CUSA aren't going to flock anywhere to see the tournament so reward it to the schools that have the best attendance. If ODU fans want to host the tournament on a regular basis, they'll make a good showing throughout the tournament. Not just the ODU games.
MEAC
Irrelevant if we hold it the previous weekend.
The MEAC has the Scope from Monday through Saturday, plus Admirals, plus the usual other events. Tough window to fit in, doubt the C-USA would want their season ending a week before selection sunday as well.
Move the MEAC to the Hampton coliseum. And the admirals are leaving town anyways, I'm sure it would work, but I don't think it will happen

Why would Norfolk want to lose the MEAC in favor of the CUSA? I've never been to the MEAC, so Im not sure what the attendance is, but it can't be that much worse than what we saw in Birmingham so I doubt Norfolk would leave a sure thing. The Admirals may be leaving after this season, but they are being replaced by the Admirals next season.

RE: Empty Sue it is!
As much as I'd love to see our Monarchs continue their season in the NCAA tourney, I've sadly resolved to not get too emotionally tied to an expectation that they somehow find a way to squeak through. I don't need anymore statistician slicing a mathematical algorithm that somehow predicts ODU may still have an ever so infinitesimal chance of getting in. I'm o.k. now, we are not making the big dance this year. Let's look to the next opportunity, but if by chance our number gets called, the joy across Monarchland will genuinely be ever so gargantuan. Let's keep the Monarch momentum moving in a positive manner. Don't work yourselves up for a letdown!

The Admirals aren't leaving. They are losing their AHL affiliation and gaining and ECHL affiliation. The players will be all different. The club will move from an affiliate of the Ducks to the Oilers. But they will still be playing games at the Scope with Admirals uniforms. For most locals, the difference in level of play will be hardly recognizable. For hockey fans, it means no big names save for future stars. There will be a lot more fights though.

UAB is going to be a force in CUSA next year and any post season play only helps them. I really like the Lee kid, what a stud and Nick is solid PG. They are putting the conference on notice. But this year losing their PG right before the season started really hurt their OOC performance.

I haven't kept up with UAB and the fallout from their football troubles, but is it confirmed that regardless of not having football they'll still be in the conference next year?

Nope, and depending on who you read they are in, out, or it is a toss-up.

Empty Sue it is!
Honestly, this may be unpopular, but I hope the Presidents stick by the bylaws and remove UAB. I feel badly for their fans, sure, but they can blame their own administration. They knew the consequences when they made the decision, they should have to suffer them.
Also, for what it's worth, I think the fact that UAB is so young and so good in basketball is going to hurt any small chance they have to resurrect football. The fans are going to come out and see a winner in hoops and thus, the Athletic Department will not feel the full wrath of their fans' anger, a message most clearly given by empty seats.

I want this for my own selfish reasons lol I'm sure it wouldn't happen. I would just love to see the CUSA in our hometown and I love the scope. And you're right about the Admirals, I forgot about that. I was just bummed that were losing the AHL affiliation. Schedule would be too busy

I'm an average NHL fan and a big follower of the Capitals. I forgot about the "new" team, but I did like following the Admirals from the distance and seeing some AHL stars in Norfolk, whether it be on our team or teams coming to the scope. I do love a good hockey fight though

Fair enough, I've just come across a lot of people who think Norfolk will dump the MEAC just cause. Just looking at the CUSA map, seems like the best place, if possible, to hold the tourney would be New Orleans. Always heard it was a fun place, whether it was from those who went to the Super Bowl or from friends who went there on a random weekend, and I imagine most of the fan bases wouldn't mind making the trip as oppossed to Birmingham or Norfolk (love it here, but Im bias). And I imagine the students wouldnt mind having spring break there, and may catch a game or two between hangovers.
The big two catches are Pelican home games, which shouldn't be hard to work that and a 4 day tourney into the same schedule, plenty of NBA/NHL teams do it now, and SEC occasionally has their tourney there but from now unti at least 2025 that doesnt seem to be a problem. Im pretty sure no other conerence has their tourney there other than the Sun Belt which is at UNO's arena.

New Orleans would be a great place. I was there my freshman year in college when we played Baylor in the NCAA tourney. Beautiful city and extremely fun as well. The Smoothie King Center is also a great venue, I love those different colored seats, much brighter than the cavern that was the BJCC
