Soccer Is Changing. It’s Ready for Gay Stars.
Soccer’s face is heterosexual and heteronormative. A supermodel is as essential an accessory for the modern player as a supercar. The number of openly gay professional players can be counted on one hand. Those players who have come out, such as Robbie Rogers of the LA Galaxy, have attributed their periods of denial to the aggressively homophobic atmosphere in the locker room, while institutionally, little has been done to assuage the notion that soccer doesn’t care about its gay players. The 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups will take place in Russia and Qatar, respectively, after all.

The foregoing is used to assert that soccer is one of the last bastions of unchallenged intolerance toward gay people—Ben Summerskill, chief executive of the British LGBTQ campaign group Stonewall called soccer “institutionally homophobic,” for example. Within a culture where much stock has long been put in certain conceptions of masculinity, brotherhood, and competition, the argument goes that a space cannot exist for soccer players who fail to conform to traditional gender stereotypes, that soccer fans would not embrace a gay player.

Is "Homophobic" starting to lose it's punch? is that why we see "Heteronormative" pop up more?

I mean Heteronormative is something of an tautology?

No, what they want is for the acceptance to be on public display in the hopes that their suspicions about the fans can be confirmed. Michael Sam played for 3 years at Mizzou and none of his teammates cared what he did with his genitalia. The locker room is a brotherhood where these types of things are worked out in private.

lol, not going to see any gay players on Real Mardrid then. Word is Angel Di Maria was let go because he wasn't handsome enough. He landed at Man U so he'll be fine.

Heteronormative is now used to mean anybody who is less than fully enthusiastic about any whim that strikes the LGBTQ movement.

Why do they call it lgbtq? Wouldn't gay be sufficient as it encompasses every part of it? Heteronormative is non-gay?

Heteronormative? If that means thinking heterosexuality is normal, count me in. Aren't gays 3% of the population? If my math is correct, 97>3.

I'm not saying homosexuality is evil. I'm just saying it's not normal. I guess you say it is normal for 3%, but that's playing games with the language.

That's what I mean the term is a tautology. It exists only to (1) shame people not in lock step with the SJW and (2) create the illusion that if 3% of the population does something different with their genitalia it's "normal"

Liberals don't tolerate - The dictate that you accept
Liberals don't accept - They redefine

RE: Soccer Is Changing. It’s Ready for Gay Stars.
People always assumed Raheem Sterling was gay, by his mannerisms and the way he ran. I couldn't have cared less, I was still a fan of his footballing ability. Turns out, he isn't gay and his girlfriend is like a 100/10, so joke's on us.

I can't imagine the locker room being a problem (maybe if you play in a legit, 3rd world country, but I doubt it would be a problem in England, Spain, or Germany), but even if it is, we're talking about thought crimes again. People are going to ostercize who they want, for whatever reasons they want, and someone trying to force them not to by telling them it's the politically correct thing to do is only going to make it worse.

With all that said, football/soccer hooligans (they aren't a majority, but they do exist) on the other hand are pretty hardcore, whether it be race, sexuality, or even saying they are going to rape rival player's 3 year old daughters (Steven Gerrard Twitter incident). Seen the train incident with Chelsea fans not letting the black guy on the train, and chanting "We're racists, and that's the way we like it."?

Nothing is really off limits to the hooligan lifestyle, and again, nothing that the LGBTUVXYZ agenda does is going to change that.
