Quote:o I assume that networks value P5 games more than they value G5 games? Yes, I do. That's not an arbitrary assumption. They currently pay about 15 times more for those games. They put them in the most attractive time slots, and air them more often.
Spot on!

Spot on!
Last year, P5 schools played 114 games against G5 schools and 309 games against other P5 schools (271 of which were conference games). If the 63 G5 schools all play in conferences that are composed of roughly half former P5s and half former G5s, and each conference plays a 7 game round robin, that means those 63 current G5 schools would play, on average, 3.5 conference games against current P5s. That's 220 games a year, or 106 more than they played last year.
That means that networks would have 1/3 less inventory of P5/P5 games each year. If they reduced their payments to the P5s proportionately for loss of P5/P5 inventory, and then increased proportionately what they had been paying to the G5s, their total payments to the FBS as a whole would be roughly $950 million compared with $1.35 billion that they are currently paying. Former P5s would get half of that $950 million, or $475 million. Currently they are getting about $1.25 billion.
I assume there might be less than proportional reduction in payments, since not all P5 games are being televised currently. But a smaller reduction isn't no reduction. It's hard to conclude that P5's wouldn't be ceding a large part of their current revenues to G5s. Why would we think they would do that?

Fluke. How is that a fluke. We lost one game by 3 points? If we played this year it would have been just as tight a game. Get over yourself.
I have No problem with that game , You proved Yourselves Well against Baylor and had some incredible talent on that team. We let Our guard down at the wrong time and You deserved the Win. But We do Love being in the ACC and Hope You Guys, Cincinnati, UConn, USF and even Memphis can get a p5 call up.
Cheers. I was looking forward to playing Louisville. I was a fan as a kid when my dad was stationed at ft Knox.
You was virtually down the street from Louisville-(Dixie Hwy)...UCF, On that day was the Better team and was one of the best teams in the Nation in 2013...we didnt realize it at the time.
I know. I was in etown for a while and got to see the riverboat races etc

Yes. Otown is a pretty good place to raise a family. I can tell you I don't miss the cold. I do miss the hunting though

ND? How many years from now. I will say that it will be more difficult to make the playoffs, but the viewership will still make them a lot of money to stay indie until their next contract ends, which I think will be lengthy.

Another UL/ACC fan dreaming of Big 12 splitting up.
Tell me if I've seen this before...
