RE: What will it take for CUSA to get multiple teams dancing?
UTEP has been Jekyll and Hyde sometimes, but it was also during a time that 7'1" Matt Wilms was injured. Granted Wilms is not a major offensive difference maker, but having him out for 4 weeks did mess with UTEP's rotation and forced guys to play extended minutes. UTEP is 100% healthy now with THREE senior starters who are super hungry for a conference tournament championship.

That happened with Ross. Had stitches in his tongue and was reduced to a liquid diet for a while and had back spasms. Appears to have gotten healthy about 6 games ago, go figure.
If the rest of the games are like the first round this tourney will continue to deliver! Good luck to all!
RE: What will it take for CUSA to get multiple teams dancing?
Lunardi not having ODU in his bracket is nothing more than ESPN not wanting exposure to CUSA when the exposer could just as easily go to their conference affiliates Miami (ACC), Tulsa (AAC), And of course Texas. He'll just change the bracket the night or day before and still look like a genius.
RE: What will it take for CUSA to get multiple teams dancing?
I've said all along that if ODU got to the finals they would have a chance for an at-large. I still don't believe it's a lock if it happens because I believes it depends who you lose to. ODU wants to see La Tech in the finals, not UAB in the event the Monarchs lost.

ODU is also UTEP's matchup nightmare. Their guards are mediocre at best. We failed to exploit that the first go around, but have been exploiting that ever since.
I'm not sure about the matchups being the difference but rather whether we get Jekyll UTEP or Hyde UTEP. One team is capable of playing with any team in the country and is the version that smoked ODU earlier this year. The other is the same squad that gave up a 24 point lead in 12 minutes to an undermanned USM.
Both teams need to win today for any of this to matter and that is no sure thing.

Canes coach explains why road record is an important factor for the selection committee
"The NCAA tournament is played on neutral sites, and your record away from home should be weighed very heavily. Because you're not going to be at home playing in front of your thousands of fans and you have to take your act on the road."
