Game Week: CMU and @WMU
This is from a post on the main MAC board. Our main rival now for #8 seed, Miami (surprised), has two home games against top MAC teams.

IF (big IF) we beat CMU and @WMU, we would be tied with WMU at 8 - 8 with us holding the tiebreaker.

RE: Game Week: CMU and @WMU
We have 4 games left and by the looks of it our best case is to go 2-2 winning both road games and losing both home games. The top 10 ncaa teams average 14 assts per game 2 with 16+, 3 with15+, 2 with 14+, 1 with 13+, 2 with 12+. We average 10.1 assts per game ranking us in the bottem 50. That site has 16 comparison rankings and i dont just use one but the assts per game is the one that stands out the most.

I agree, EMU has a tendency to breakdown into one on one offense a lot in the half court set. Ward, Talley, and Lee have a lot of skill to make that work sometimes. But usually it is ugly and hard to watch.

When things are rolling and they get in transition a lot they actually have good offense. But when that is not there...

Anyways, 2-2 as a "best case scenario" is really negative. Maybe the "most likely" scenario. But I like that you are calling a win at WMU. If EMU is worth talking about, then they SHOULD beat Ball St, and SHOULD be able to pull out one of the other three tougher games. Especially since 2 of the tougher games are at home.

RE: Game Week: CMU and @WMU
Gonna be a tough week. I could easily see us going 0-2. CMU is on fire right now, and WMU is very tough to beat in K'Zoo. We will need to be at our utmost efficient to win either of these games, let alone both.

We actually did a very good job in the 2nd half of the CMU game on the defensive side. We extended our zone and dared them to beat us inside. This was also before we used Nazione at 5...I think this game is perfect for him to be there. They are gonna hit some threes...I think that's pretty much a given. Limiting Fowler should be our focus. He's their only dribble drive threat and the catalyst of their offense. Gotta keep him on the perimeter.

The good news is Karrington Ward is becoming Karrington Ward again. He was dreadful in the 1st meetings against both of these teams. It will be a welcomed sight if he keeps up his current pace for the rest of the season.

I would think that this game, piggyback on your comments, Sam, will be much, much different than the first meeting.

I'd be shocked (probably crap my pants) if Murphy doesn't start Talley, Lee, Bond, Ward and Nazione.

CMU has more height than in the past, but still isn't a power team inside.

Starting Okoloji and Samuels (whom I assume started the last CMU game) would make little sense. Why go big if they go small???

Wonder if the half time score could be say 37 - 35? Then someone will try to turn the game into a grinder in the 2nd half?

The key to the game stopping CMU offensively, as we need missed shots to set up our transition game.

If CMU shoots lights out, we'll get stuck in an ugly, unproductive half court game.

BTW, are students on break this week, next week or the week after?

Could be a COMPLETELY different game:

1). At home,

2). Completely different lineup then up at Mt. P. http://www.emueagles.com/boxscore.aspx?p...ll&id=5433

3). Karrington might have been hurt up at Central and is now healthy. The stat sheet says he played 12 minutes up in Mt. P.

This could be the type of game where one takes the box score, game tape, etc. from the first meeting and say: "That was then, tomorrow is a new ball game. Don't expect a repeat."

I might be going to the WMU game on Saturday. I need an opinion on this. Should I buy tickets in advance or will there be seats available?

If you miss a shot nobody gets an assist. Our poor shooting could be the reason we have few assists.

you'll get a better seat if you buy in advance, but it's definitely not going to sell out.

Hey! they aren't making passes that would get an assts in the first place! And their foul shooting is do to the dribble and shoot offense again no passes to even get an assts! Watch the friggen game!07-coffee3

Super, I don't see either number for SOS, in the Sagarins or Pomeroys. RPI doesn't have SOS as a data item.

Sagarins has us #156 and CMU #233.

CMU is #233 after playing the MAC schedule to date. Before that, their OOC schedule was cupcake city (and didn't apparently hurt them. 03-idea ).

BTW, Super apparently likes Ken Pomeroy. Here are the top 100 teams we've played this year. Most (EDIT: all but one) have been on the road:

#18 MSU
#50 Dayton
#56 Buffalo
#69 Toledo
#84 CMU
#90 UofM
#96 BG

Look at the site ive posted several times. That site takes into account all teams played not just D1. It has us as an over ranking of 140 and cmu as 103.

Did you edit your post to eliminate the Ken Pomeroy stats? I got them from your post and now I can't find your reference to them in this thread?

EDIT: Here is the Ken Pomeroy site Super had linked: http://kenpom.com/
