1) CUSA Tournament (2014) - hosted by UTEP: cheapest all-session pass $80 (20% cheaper than UAB's cheapest all-session pass)

2) CUSA Tournament (2010) - hosted by Tulsa: cheapest all-session pass $67 (33% cheaper than UAB's cheapest all-session pass)

The most important thing is to focus on the bottom line ($). Number of all-session tickets don't matter as much to me if we get alot of turnout for individual sessions and the overall $ is comparable to prior tournament hosts.

It may not matter to you, but it does matter to the conference. They want the hosting community to buy all session tickets instead of individual sessions. No one local is going to buy an individual session to see Rice play UTSA, but those who buy the all session tickets likely be attending that game.

Then move the tournament to Thursday-Sunday. That's the way you sell all session passes. day 1 is hopeless no matter what, but having it on Wednesday ensures people won't attend unless it's the home team. I would buy an all session pass for Friday through Sunday if that's how it was set up. I'm not buying an all session pass for two days and three games. I can't be the only person who can easily take off Friday but Wednesday and Thursday are tougher.

I'm sure every conference would like Thursday through Sunday games, but TV dictates that, not the conferences.

& might want to twist the arm of the president of the hosting site to make sure that he gives a crap about attendance.

You miss the point. I would think what matters most to the conference is $. If UTEP and Tulsa sell more tickets, but their tickets cost less and therefore generate less $$ than UAB who might sell less tickets, then I think they would feel as I do. If they don't care about the $$ more than just pure tickets sold, then that may be yet more indication of the incompetence of the CUSA administration.

Indirectly, how many tickets are sold matter of course, but there is a discrepancy in cost of tickets that will impact the bottom line more than some are realizing. My point, is that I will wait to see the final bottom line ($) before I judge whether we have been successful or not. Anyone doing any differently is foolish.

Of course that will create the chaos that some of you want so badly.

I've got my C-USA tickets, do you? I've had basketball season tickets this year as I have for the last 19 years and contributed handsomely to Blazer Club for the right to buy them. (Though it is still questionable whether I will participate next year.) Did you have season tickets this year, are you a Blazer Club member? I you have to answer "no" to any of the questions above, you have no right to make comments about being ashamed of "UAB fans" in general as you have.

As for other people on this board, some can't afford to buy a book of tickets for every tournament game. Others, unlike you, actually give a rip about the football program and didn't like Watts' statements that he was cutting football to reallocate the money spent on that doomed program to the "programs where we can be nationally competitive". (Everyone knew he was talking about basketball and soccer.) They also called BS on the statements and assumptions in the Carr report which indicated that athletic giving and the support of other programs such as basketball would not suffer if football was cut. And guess what, they were absolutely right.

You can argue till the cows come home that folks who feel that way are playing into Watts' hands, but you are not going to convince them otherwise, and I can't say that I blame them.

So you can complain all you want like the rest of us about Watts and the BOT and the ridiculous situation they have put us in, but we are not going to put up with you blaming UAB fans for anything that has happen as a result of our athletic program being sabotaged .

Hey thanks MB! Coming from you that's a real complement. Since you didn't have a snappy comeback we can safely assume that you didn't contribute to the basketball program, didn't buy season tickets and haven't bought an all games pass for the C-USA Tournament.

Therefore, kindly refrain in the future from posting that you are "ashamed of UAB fans". And thanks in advance for respecting your fellow Blazer fans in the future.

I have let Shannon Ealy and Brad Hardekopf know that I will not be renewing my Blazer Booster membership until football is returned. I did buy tickets to the C-USA tournament though...

I am with Cajun on this, screw anyone who believes its the fan responsibility for the success of this turney...I have my tickets for every session of the turney, I have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years, pay good money for the honor to do so.
I will continue to be a Blazer booster and pay for season tickets.
I will not cut off my nose to spite my face..
I see Cajun at every basketball game, he always beat me there, he is always seated with UAB fans, ( some I believe he made ) and he is highly motivated for the BLAZERS...
I know Its slow around here and I want us all to remember a house divided cannot stand...I once quoted ( Pogo comic strip ) famous quote, we have met the enemy and its us..
Who do you think had to say something.......IF YOU ANSWERED MB... you win nothing because the answer was to obvious...
But lets remember we should not stoop to fighting and disrespecting each other we all have to play our part. To quote or make a mess of another quote , we either lose ( Hang ) together or we will lose ( HANG ) separately.
rebounder2u, GO BLAZERS..

I try and do everything that I can for the program, but the blame should go to Watts.

If CUSA has problems with our tickets sales so far, they should call Watts up. He makes $835,000 a year.

I plan on heading to Montgomery on the 10th however due to my daughter probably attending another school my UAB events attending days may be a little more sparse in the future.

I agree with Cajun. No shame on our fan base for not being fired up to support a conference we will get thrown out of(my opinion) should we continue our athletic program under the vision and leadership of Ray Watts and the BOT.
Sales of season tickets/tickets to our programs are what we need. Money spent supporting CUSA is a waste unless we are committed to staying in CUSA by returning football. Let's solve problem one(football) and then move on to problem 2(conference affiliation).
We all know that had Dr Watts shared with conf officials that he was eliminating football- We woul not be hosting this tournament.

I bought one set two weeks ago. Guess I'm part of the 500. In the Hampton Roads article today, it states that Old Dominion has sold 19 sets of tickets...

I bought two as well. I'm taking 3 days off work and treating it as a basketball themed vacation. I got seats a couple of rows from the floor at center court, and I plan on getting my money's worth out of them regardless of how UAB does.

Me too. Took off Tues-Fri. Tues to go lobby in Montgomery and going to watch every game at the BJCC, unless UAB women are playing in which I'll be at Bartow. I'm center court, 10 rows up for my "Basketball-cation."

Anyone heard an update on sales from anyone? I'm sure at this point we won't hear anything publicly until after the tournament. I would imagine we will still end up with a ton of people buying single session passes. That's the way UAB folks operate in general. We have never been a big bulk ticket sales group (ie season ticket sales vs single game ticket sales).
