Hmm. 6'8", good handles for a big man, runs the floor and seems athletic. Can shoot the 3 ball but hit only 25%. Have to wonder why he didn't play much on a D2 team? Great academics. Seems to fall into the category of "best available" this late in the game.
Yeah, not too much out there on him that I can find. He's long, I wonder what his wing span is because I would be willing to bet it's around 7 foot. I believe he still has to sit 1 year to play 2, so this doesn't necessarily fill the hole for next season. Still one scholarship available.
The source I read has him with a 6'9" wingspan.

He does have some Crazy hops! Something isn't adding up here. Could this be a Chris Flemmings type find? (obviously that is extreme)

Flemmings dominated at the DII level, this kid struggled to get PT. On paper, he looks like a great find. 6'8", athletic, good handles for that size, ability to shoot from the perimeter. Agree, something doesn't add up, unless they believe they can coach him up.

Flemmings second year at Barton was great, first year decent. I wasn't comparing for apples to apples just in terms of a diamond in the rough. What's interesting if you look at his game splits from last year, he had some really really good games. But, seems like he struggled with consistency.

RE: Recruit Updates
It's my understanding that Belmont Abby tried to talk him into staying. They considered him to be their best player.

They had a Jr that averaged 25ppg, and a SO, that averaged 15.But, both were guards. So maybe he was their best big guy?
Of all the F on the roster he had the best numbers, there was a combo G/F that averaged 10 vs his 8.8.

No, apparently they were expecting bigger things out of him the next two years. And maybe CB sees the same thing.

RE: Recruit Updates
I was a bit spectacle at first but after seeing the video of him I can understand it now after seeing him play above the rim with dunks. He has electricity about him and that is something that has been a theme lately. You can talk about closeouts and fundamentals, but getting guys that have another gear regarding quickness/athleticism makes life a whole lot easier. He will have a year to get his bench up and to put on some muscle, but he seems like a good addition.
I'm hoping for one big that can help next year. If the Hawks can add one more big that can play right away, they will have enough to compete very well because 1-4 should be good at this point.

Recruit Updates
Just watched the video. I’m a bit behind and playing catch up. I was serving on a courts martial all week and had brief, limited access to my phone and Internet.
Anyways, I really like the outlook here with Bowen. He has springs in his shoes and really gets up, but more importantly looks like he plays with a lot of energy which is great for a guy with his size and length. Two other things I noticed were that he’s not afraid to stroke it with a hand in his face, which says he has confidence in his shot and doesn’t just rely on needing a lot of space to shoot. The other positive is when he’s playing low with his back to the basket he has a similar jump pseudo-hook that Cacok has. I would argue, he even seems to have a little more range on it than Cacok. Give this kid a year to practice at this level and add more muscle and he looks like he’ll potentially be a big time threat to opposing teams. Imagine him, with a sophomore Dodd on the floor together controlling the paint.
I’m all in on Bowen.

06 - did you serve as the defendant? If so, hope your next posting won't be Leavenworth!

LOL. Thankfully, no. I'd hate to be in that situation with my life in someone else's hands.
Any further word on a big for THIS coming year?

Only interest I can find is 6'8" Malachi Rhodes, from Marietta Ga. We've not offered and it looks like he's leaning toward FIU. I believe it's also old info.

Cacok is from Riverdale, which is just south of Atlanta. Estime is from Lilburn, which is a suburb of Atlanta.

O'Connell is from Roswell. Riverdale and Roswell are close to Marietta. Played a lot of Softball tournaments in Marietta and Dalton. Mareitta Diner is unreal. We've been there after midnight and still had to wait for a table. Most everyone leaves with leftovers. Huge menu and a large display of homemade desserts.

I don't believe the staff is in on Malachi Rhodes anymore.
