RE: Recruit Updates
Really exciting prospect. Greene Central has become one of the top public school programs in Eastern NC. For those of you who know the area, it is a different kind of basketball that's played around there. High paced, great athletes, and intense atmospheres. His AAU program Stackhouse Elite has put out a bunch of top D1 talent over the years. Wouldn't be one bit surprised if Dodd can come in a make an impact immediately. This kid is a diamond in the rough for sure.

RE: Recruit Updates
Can't seem to find much more on Jake Boggs. As a junior, the 6-foot-7 Boggs averaged 4.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots per game, UNCW was the only team to offer him a scholarship. Like that this staff is recruiting length and athleticism, but they were definitely sold on what they saw out of Boggs on the AAU Circuit. He plays for Pro Basketball Skills out of Charlotte, they have a pretty cool documentary type thing on Youtube. However, it rarely features Jake. Regardless, welcome to the dub.

RE: Recruit Updates
All 5 starters for for his HS team are D1 players. Not sure what that means for him, but interesting. Also, I know some wanted to priority placed on NC kids; this week we’ve signed two local products.

Boggs I'm in let's wait and see mode. The kid from Greene County looks like a stud

Looks like they locked down someone who has the potential to have gotten a lot of attention by others before his recruitment was over. Something of a gamble, but with a nice risk/potential reward ratio.

RE: Recruit Updates
The Phenom Hoop Report I posted certainly suggests that he is primed to take off this year. I'm not a regular with that service so I don't know if they're typically optimistic with profiles and projections, but they were very complimentary of Boggs. I can't say that I know anything more about him than what is posted in this thread.
As mentioned though, his high school, Carmel Christian, has a lot of talent. Donovan Gregory (ASU), Marten Maide (Liberty), DeAngelo Epps (CofC), Myles Pierre (Houston Baptist), and now Boggs, are all committed to DI programs. Ford Cooper (2020) has an offer from Tulane and Myles Hunter as a couple of offers (Hampton and Presbyterian). Making inroads with a strong program in Charlotte would seemingly be a minimum benefit.

Phenom Hoop Report tends to be very optimistic. I'm looking forward to keeping up with Boggs throughout this season. Looks to me that he really hasn't got an opportunity to shine. He should have that shot at Carmel Christian this year.

RE: Recruit Updates
One of the better recruiting services Phenom Hoops has Dodd as 12th best player in this NC class. Boggs was 67th. Hopefully this will be a Stewart Hare type signing

RE: Recruit Updates
I'll just add this. Sometimes stats don't really project a players ability. You know the dynamic if you follow the game closely. There are times that a player or players are established on good programs and roles are defined. If you have a good program, players that are really good don't stand out. A perfect example is Craig Callahan. He was a tremendous college player that was just like that. Another perfect example will be Kai Toews and you will understand what I'm saying after a little while. His ability stood out to me as I watched him on tape because I understand his position well. He sees his situation and player positioning at a high level before and during his action and passes at a very high level plus can score if he needs to. That's key for a PG. He will have to make adjustments and my hope is that he's not passive because that's the tendency for a freshman. I haven't seen tape on our other PG/combo, but understand that he's good. Our walkon is also very good and can run the team as well. The other recruits have been talked about a lot so I won't get into that. This staff is very good at player evaluation.
Without the Jimmy's and Joe's, it's really hard. Fortunately, we have a staff that gets it. I'm thrilled that we didn't fall backwards after Keatts with respect to getting quality players-that's all I'm saying here. This program deserves that and I'm glad that we will eventually be back towards the top of the conference in time with this group. Kudos to the staff for getting such great student athletes. And, this is not a knock on Buzz because he was put in a bad situation with the APR. I'll give him a little bit of a pass although he/they didn't bust it hard like this staff does. It's going to show at some point soon so get your popcorn ready.
