Mading has an offer from UNCW and is a teammate of Seahawk commit Jamarii Thomas.
He’s a long, rim-protecting four that can get up and down the floor.

Are we sure he doesn’t exceed our height limits?

Now that’s a recruit I’m all in on!
Brian Mull:
He'd look sharp at the back of the press. Elite rim protector was the only ingredient missing in the Keatts run.

Jamarii Thomas reacted online as well. There wasn't much to it; just an emoji that looked to me to be a wry smile.
Mading has a pretty impressive offer list, but this seems to be a promising development. Something to keep an eye for sure.
UNCW commit Jamarii Thomas went into attack mode in the 2nd half against HPCA and recorded 21 points, 6 assists, & 6 steals. Powerful leaper who can be a pest on defense and creates opportunities for himself & others.
From Tyler Lewis, “Thomas @JamariiThomas is a dawg! Does a tremendous job leading @TBS_Hoops. It’s hard not to love this kid. Plays with so much energy and passion.”

If you look at tape on this guy, he's a player. One of those smaller guys that is so hard to stop because he can jump out of the gym. I expect to see some highlight reel dunks when he gets out on the break. He's also going to create some highlight reel alley oops as well. He can't get to UNCW fast enough.
Not to derail this conversation, but I can't believe they are making these kids wear masks while playing, most are not even wearing correctly anyways. These kids are out there sweating all over one another, WTH is an improperly worn mask going to do? Meh....... I can't even imagine
So with guys getting an extra year, and the Freshman we have coming in, what does that do to the scollys? I'm sure when coach started recruiting he was planning on Seniors being gone.

That’s the big question. NCAA might increase the number of scholarship players from 13. But no way we can afford 2 or 3 extra scholarships, or can most Non Power 5 schools, with pretty much no attendance this year. And then you factor in playing time. No school (outside maybe Florida State) plays even 10-12 players. Players want to get minutes immediately.
Then you factor in the transfer waiver with players being able to leave without sitting out, this offseason will be very interesting.
IJ Ezuma from Hargrave received an offer today. 6'8 PF and I found this "He plays with a brute force inside, gets off his feet well, and has a high motor. Stepped out and hit 2 3’s in the 2nd half. Not a ton of quality bigs left in 2021, he should be a hot target."
Another ideal candidate for us. Not surprisingly, Ezuma also has an offer from EKU and A.W. Hamilton.

Sounds like a bruiser, we can’t deny the Hargrove connection either

For sure and he's originally from Raleigh, but EKU offered in December 2019. It's not obvious to me if Ezuma has a personal connection with A.W. Hamilton (Hamilton left Hargrave to join Keatts when Ezuma was in 8th grade), but Hamilton's connection to Hargrave is obviously stronger and Tre King, from Hargrave, is a junior at Hargrave currently.
We have two offers out to big men. Both seem to be really important to the construction of the team, but both appear (to me) to be an uphill battle. It would be a really big win on the recruiting trail to get either Ezuma or Mading.

Eastern Kentucky's roster is also an interesting case study when trying to envision our roster in 2-3 years. On their roster, they have 10 guards, 3 forwards and 2 wings. Their core rotation, based on a quick at a few box scores, is guard heavy. Their size is 6'9 225 and 6'7 220 and 4 of their starts play heavy minutes (30+/gm).

Interesting. We’d definitely be a hell of a lot better off with one of the last few guys mentioned in tow. It will be interesting to see what happens with roster and the extra year guys
