I was just reading up on him. If Siddle thinks he can straighten him out, I'm all for it. As we learned this past season you can't teach size... and Steere looks to have plenty of that.
Curious why he left State after one game. You seem to have a beat on State basketball. This St John’s article mentions “work habits.”
https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/...itely/amp/
Mullins was fired from St John’s and Anderson didn’t recruit him, so I can sorta understand. I assume Siddle recruited him to State, but what went wrong when he got to Raleigh?
Regardless as you mentioned I will trust Siddle on this. He could be a game changer being a former top recruit.
I have no clue what happened with Steere in Raleigh. My connection to their program wasn’t there at that time. If it was a work ethic problem, I doubt Siddle would bring him in. I can’t really say, but I do think he’s the type of guy that’s worth the risk.

JaJuan Carr and Steere as the first two commmits for Siddle is pretty impressive.

I believe Brandon Clifford from Greensboro was a 4* recruit also.

Nope, I'm not counting on Brent Jenkins having a scholarship next season. He might be on the team but it would be back to his walk-on status.

That is an interesting point, and given that we have at least 5 offers outstanding, I'm curious if they're all offers that Siddle would take a commitment from right now. I assume that Siddle has prioritized between guys like Mason/Harvey vs someone that appears to be a project (not naming names).
It also makes me wonder (with no information to suggest it's true) if Teel was planning to commit to UNCW on the 18th.

Carr seems solid Steere is a wait and see for me. Have to see how that baggage plays out. But, you can't hit a HR if you don't swing for it!

As you said, big and athletic, has a jump shot and finishes with authority. It's hard to tell from AAU videos, but a good helpside defender as well. I noticed that he always finishes with his right, so hopefully that is something that he's developed the past two years, but he has the talent to succeed in the CAA and a good fit for Siddle's system. I hate entering next season with the same post depth that we had this year, but otherwise like this.

Wichita State has taken several commitments including a kid from NC who is very similar to Harvey.

They've also had several transers out and decommitments. I hope Harvey realizes there is a culture issue there.

Recruit Updates
Seems decent that we can get a guy with size, but if he’s not available next year we still stand to be in some trouble if he can’t find a big that is available immediately.
I’m cautiously optimistic on this one. I don’t like this kid’s history. It doesn’t trend in a good direction.

He was a freshman in 2018-19 and he played 1 game for NCST in 2018 before deciding to to transfer for the Spring semester.
In the '19-20 season the NCAA denied his appeal to allow him to play the first semester of 2019 at SJU, so his first game was on December 18th.
https://empirewritesback.com/2019/11/13/...ty-steere/
Kid has played in 6 games and a total of 26 minutes entering his junior season. I'm not sure how the Relief Waiver works or if the NCAA has been consistent enough to know the likelihood of it being granted. I think getting closer to home could work is in favor, but transferring twice in less than two years may work against him.

Especially since one of those transfers was away from home. The fact he bolted on KK with Siddle on his staff is concerning to me.

I'm not sure how the Relief Waiver works either, but I know Siddle has mentioned they need to add a big and ballhandler to next years team. I can't see them adding another big to this class unless another scholarship comes available. It's still a little early for me to feel comfortable that nobody will transfer, but it sure seems like we have a good chance of not losing anyone. Idk what the grounds were for Okauru getting his waiver granted but this seems like a similar situation minus the prior transfer.

Apples to oranges, completely different situations other than transferring closer to home.

What i meant is if they look at the history, multiple issues (waiver denied), playing 1 game one place, 6 another it's a very atypical situation. Vs. Okauru was what they would normally expect to see. Went one place, fulfilled his duties as a student athlete and transferred once.
