It's happened at few different schools. Its mostly associated with a rare hearth condition called sickle cell anemia which causes the blood to clot when under physical stress like a football offseason workout. Its always very sad when something like it happens.

I don't know if that other guy has ever been to a football practice but coaches are constantly yelling at player to push themselves. In our case the kids parents didn't even know about the condition. O'Leary didn't know about it either.

Yep, several schools indeed. How many were found guilty in court?

maybe we should talk about Brandon Davis. His initial statements when he went to the hospital were interesting. Amazing how quick they got him to shut up.

They were found guilty of negligence. Not even gross negligence. Just unequipped to handle the situation. And that the training staff should have handled it better. O'Leary wasn't found guilty of anything. The court case was the Planchers vs UCFAA, The court case was also just to settle damages to be awarded to the family. . The Athletic Assiociation was found guilty of negligance because the training staff on duty were not made aware on this condition and did not know how to handle it properly when he collapsed. Anything else you wanna be wrong about?

Jealous of UCF...HA! I am sorry but I like to hold my head up high. Id have walked away from my program after the second round of cheating and killing a player.
Integrity matters to me. Id rather never win the big game then have my school tarnished by that mans actions but you go ahead and be proud. It shows your level of class.

"Killing a player"..really? Seems you guys suffered a tragic death of one of your players during a workout too back in 2007. But of course, being the tool you are, you like to take the below the belt shot regarding our tragedy...

We had a player who died in the weight room when he was training. It was his workout that he was doing and didn't have coaches directing him to work harder.

Oliar was physically on the field and saw the kid fall to his knees, not once, not twice but three times and yet he continued to ridicule the kid and yell for him to work harder.

This is why UCF was found guilt and to be culpably negligent and there was never any charges or discussion of charges at USF.

When you are found guilty, it is considered "killing a player". No matter how UCiF fans try to spin it, the courts have ruled and all I am doing is saying what they did. Dont like it? Take it up with the US court system.

and lastly... you say Tragedy. A tragedy is a mistake or accident. This was not either of those, otherwise the court would have ruled different. Check your history and read a little deeper. This isnt the first time Oliar has pushed a kid well beyond where he should have.... hell, this isnt even the first school hes done it at.

You talk about it like the court found him guilty of murder. It is not murder because no one killed anyone. It's a tragic situation. Just leave it alone. Why don't you argue about usf sports instead? Oh...

last time I checked moron this was a USF thread. reading comprehension isnt your strength... and they did find him culpable in his death. You really do need to read more.

I mean seriously... what do you think "Negligent wrongful death" means. Can you spin it into a positive for me?

I just realized this is probably the wrong place for this discussion. If you wanna keep talking about the Plancher case, PM me and ill be glad to talk about it with you in a rational discussion. It's bad form to use a tragic death as smack talk.

Back to football. usif's class was good but until that talent is put to use to winning I don't see it making much of a different. We will learn a lot about taggarts ability to coach this year. We will see if the transition to a new spread offense with him being the play caller is a good move. The personnel seems to be setup a little better for a spread. But hasn't taggart been recruiting the past 2 years for his power run offense?

RE: USF recruiting
I wont be Pming you about it. Ive come to the conclusion you have no class at all and would be a waste of my time to discuss something like this.
I take killing a kid to be very personal and the attempt by you to make it less then what it was simply sickens me. If you had come on here and simply said that your proud of your teams win but acknowledge that your coach has done some seriously messed up stuff and your AD, basketball coach and a few other were complete lying toolbags, then we could have talked.
Instead you attempted to minimize actions that your university has taken and act like they are so far in the past. You're still on probation for them. They are very relevant and real... and every day the Planchers family has to live with their son being dead.

When you get some class and are willing to acknowledge the egregious actions of your university, then maybe well talk. Until then, Ill hang with my UCF friends at the tailgate next year and me n you should just avoid each other, cause right now, your attitude makes me sick.
