We will still beat you and we are still in first place.

SMU played the best it has played all year. They were intense and focused. They went on a run in the second half and we never recovered. It happens.

you might beat us, you might not...

I would have said we would beat ECU last week but it didn't happen. That's why they play the games.

RE: SMU @ Tulsa Game thread
I think we finish 5-2 in conference play and win the regular season.

This was a big game and SMU had a chip on their shoulder. We were in the fight most of the game and had plenty of shots that didnt fall. Wright and Swanagen missed some dumb layups in the second half when Kennedy got into foul trouble. Moore came back and hit a three right after one of them that pushed it to a 7 point lead that we never recovered from. That last Moore/Cunningham led run crushed us.

Kennedy had 2 points and fouled out early and SMU still forced us to jack up 28 threes. That is really really good coaching.

They tried, but were easily drowned out.

SMU played a very good game & earned it tonight. Congrats pony fans!

1st of a bunch of losses down the stretch. They might still win the conference but they will lose more than 3 games. That is an ok team. In this conference that might be enough.

RE: SMU @ Tulsa Game thread
I hate talking about zebras because I know SMU was playing well without their help... But I was court side and they absolutely swallowed their whistles when it came to shooting fouls for Tulsa. They would call fouls but only on the floor. It's a lot of the reason our shooting percentage was so terrible... And that's not to mention the multitude of missed travels and screen fouls, as well as a couple goaltending, offensive basket interference misses. Then the full on shove by the punk Moore to rashad Ray that was not called.

It made me go look up the officials records.. 2 of the three average significantly more fouls in favor of away teams every season... It showed. If we get the right calls the 15-0 run wouldn't have gone quite the way it did. We may not have won, but the game would have been close at the end.

It was a good win by the ponies, but if the officiating is more correct at SMU I think Tulsa pulls an upset for the return game.

RE: SMU @ Tulsa Game thread
Tulsa does well enough with most of the average teams in the AAC. But we have match up problems with teams like Cinci and SMU. They bigger than we are in side and SMU shoots better than Tulsa does from outside the arc. Nothing that can be done about the inside, maybe try something different though. Outside we can improve. Just a matter of doing it.

Tulsa Fans: What you better worry about is getting the automatic bid because when you lose 3 or 4 more games. and you will, your resume is probably not going to be good enough for an at large bid. Just saying.

The punk Moore?

That just sounds like sour grapes to me.

In the entire game the only technical that was called was on your player - the "punk" Ray. LOL

From a bearcat perspective, smu is very quick. I think your guards are faster than our guards, so we have a hard time getting off shots. I believe our bigs are a little more athletic than your bigs. For Cincy to beat smu a third time, we will need another good shooting night and big play from Ellis. We also need to rebound defensively.

2 top 100 wins at this point in the season is not a good thing.

I'm beginning to think the NIT will look an awfully lot like AAC tourney, pt. 2.

I'm at the game and didn't hear that, but if they did chant that then yes that's messed up and I hope they hear about it from the administration.

I also didn't hear that and I apologize for it anyway. There is no place for that. Again, we are very sorry that occurred. I'm sure a letter of apology will also be sent to Larry Brown and the SMU administration for that misconduct.

When they started the chant a second time I heard it. Albeit it was a small group of the student, nonetheless it did happen. There was a lot of the students surrounding them that looked quite embarrassed from the chant, but since it happened a second time they obviously didn't take an initiative to shut them up.

I can assure you a member of our administration is aware of it and will take appropriate action.

Our students got spoken to after a Louisville game where Pitino wondered if we were really a Christian school based on what the students were yelling at him

least you guys weren't throwing paint on the opposing team's bench and coaches wives ala what Xavier did to UC the year of the big brawl.

RE: SMU @ Tulsa Game thread
ha! this brings back memories of SMU/Cincy game-had 2 Spaulding like dumb*** SMU students (my school) sitting behind me-and they literally shouted the exact phrase "these officials SUCK" at least 50 times between them-it was always one kid first and then his littl' buddy would add "Officials SUCK". When they left I looked to my right and then to my left and we all broke out laughing what losers these guys were. We've all got fans we're embarrassed of
