The Tribe
Thoughts? I see a very good team coming to the beach. UNCW has everything to play for and so does the Tribe. The Hawks have had a fun ride, will it continue? If they play with their hearts and stay focused, it could be a great game. There's a side of me that see a mad Tribe team ready to redeem themselves but UNCW should be mad about what happened in Williamsburg. Let's hope for a good game! Go Hawks!!04-cheers

RE: The Tribe
I see a mad UNCW team seeking retribution from a game they gave away. I see a UNCW team inspired by a pre-game talk from the great one, Goldsberry, who will also have his jersey retired. I see a pent up UNCW fan base, FINALLY able to get behind a team in a meaningful way, in a sold out Trask.

Almost 9 years of frustration is exorcised tonight.

This is the game, this is the place, this is the time we return.

It appears we are returning to Trask being the toughest place to play in the CAA. I think this game will be the beginning, hopefully, long term, to that happening. I agree withn 82 this is the time.

RE: The Tribe
Here are some real simple stats to look for.

FG%

W&M 8 wins. FG% 55.43 3ptFG% 45.68

W&M 3 losses. FG% 44.2 3ptFG% 38.0

They have only won one game shooting under 52%, and that was against JMU, where they still shot 41.7% from 3. They are 3-3 on the road, and haven't faced a top 5 team beyond JMU on the road.

In the CAA, only W&M and Drexel have shot over 46% against us. Both of those games, they were at home. But, Drexel only shot 42% against us in Trask.

At Trask, CAA opponents have averaged 39.2% from the field, and 29.3% from 3.

IMO, the crowd will be the difference. William and Mary hasn't faced a single school on the road that can bring a crowd like UNCW. Most of their players haven't played in a hostile atmosphere like they will see tonight in their careers. They are going to be pressured the whole game, and it will be loud and disruptive.

Our players will be energized and aggressive. And when we play that way, we're hard to beat.

RE: The Tribe
This kind of game is what will set the precedent for our team for the coming years. This is why we stuck it out with our team and our school for 9 long years. We knew we could come back. We knew we could once again reign the CAA.

WM is a good team. Their well coached, talented, and will be upset following their loss to CoC.

Honestly, the pressure is not on UNCW. It's on WM. They've yet to prove they're a solid road team. They've yet to taste the sweet championship wine. They are playing a UNCW team that no coach, CAA pundit, or even ourselves thought had a chance this year. This group of Seahawk ballers are changing the very culture that many had become accustomed to. It's time to put our "rock bottom" in the past, but remember it because it fuels the fire that pushed us to the top. It's time to let it rip.

We are back. We are Seahawks.

RE: The Tribe
I'm fully confident in this team. W&M has yet to prove they can handle a road environment well. They're a tremendous offensive team, but we totally shut them down for the first 20 minutes of that game in Williamsburg. I think Keatts will have learned some lessons from the 2nd half of that game and will be well prepared.

They showed their hand; they like to spread teams out and feed cutters in the middle or shooters on the perimeter. We've been a solid perimeter-shooting team defensively, we block or change a lot of shots and force turnovers. We'll make the Tribe uncomfortable on offense and the crowd will do the rest.

Seahawks 79, W&M 72.

Plus we're home underdogs. It would be a big mistake to bet on the Tribe tonight in my mind.

It is a big emotional charge to be in the mix this deep into the season. Been a long time comin'. But, win or lose, I am such a happy camper. I have missed the thrill of playing in games that mean so much. Trask is back and rumor has it that the Hecklers will be well represented.

I agree. I can't think of any reason we would be favored. We certainly have shown anything on the road this season. The game against UNCW is the only one all season where we won when we fell behind. In our good games, we lead early and big, so the first 10 minutes will be critical for the Tribe. Given all the emotion of tonight for UNCW, it will likely be really tough for the Tribe. If the Tribe is a true championship contender, they will show up strong tonight. UNCW has by far the best remaining schedule so tonight and next Saturday is their chance to win the regular season.

Hecklers will be well represented. One of their mentors from years past met with a representative of that organization this morning. 03-wink

We are favored because we are better...and Vegas knows it. You guys are right, we've never faced a crowd like Trask before. We only played at the Dean Dome, you know, at REAL UNC, in front of 20,000 Tarheel fans. Hope we can handle the 5000 at the branch campus at the beach tonight.

I think vegas spotted you a couple of points for following the pc police and removing that offensive feather from your logo

I've not been to a game at UNCW, especially not in their hayday. However, I think this statement disregards the game at UNC and maybe at UF a bit too much. I was at the game at UNC and I know you'll make some cheese-eating comment, but in that particular game, because of how it played out, the crowd was electric. Their fans say it's the loudest it has been in years. I don't think the crowd is going to be a big problem for the Tribe.

The UNCW team is a much bigger factor in this game than the crowd at Trask.

The UNC fans only got into that game late after you guys chipped away at a 25 point lead (which, by the way, is not evidence that you handled that crowd just fine). Ours will be in it from wire to wire. Smaller spaces make for a lot of noise too. Hope your team is ready.

Unlike you, wmlt33 handled 82Hawk's post with civility, acting like a fan who has "been here before".

We'll see... I think we all overestimate our fan impact on opposing teams. I think it's much more a motivator for the home team than a problem for the away team.

Your "experience" at the Dean Dome didn't seem to help much, considering losses on the road to Elon, CoC, and Delaware.

Go eat pie.
