I complain about that a lot. Cajuns dominance is nice, but I don't know if shutting our 5 straight opponents and winning by a total score of 40-0 is fun to watch for anyone that's not a diehard Cajun fan.

It was like starting off your season like in football playing a bad FCS team. Our schedule will get very tough but these games gave us a chance to check out 4 different pitchers before we get to the tough OOC tournaments coming up. Right now is like Pre-Season football where you get to check out some new players before you start playing the top teams in the nation in the toughest tournaments in the nation.

Softball has been transitioning to where you have more than 1 good pitcher. Like this year the Cajuns have 4 that are good pitchers. Like this past weekend we didn't shutout those teams pitching 1 ace, actually our All-American pitcher only pitched 2 innings due to injury. We pitched Jordan Wallace who fought an injury last year along with a true Freshman and Sophomore who both never pitched for the Cajuns.

It was just good for us to see the Freshman and Sophomore pitchers pitch so well in those games.

Softball is not as pitcher dominate as it use to be. It use to be that scoring 1 or 2 runs was big and you could win games 1-0. Now the hitting is catching up and you are starting to see higher scoring games.

In the Lafayette Regional last year there were scores of
7-4, 5-3, 4-3, 3-2, 10-1

In the Lafayette Super Regional
5-3, 7-1

This is over 7 innings which they play in softball. There wasn't 1 shutout because the hitting is getting good.

We are ranked 7th in the nation, so our first tournaments are like a topped ranked football team playing teams that they will normally blowout at the beginning of the year. We all know how that feels in the SBC, yet we still watch. Games get tougher for them like it will for us in softball.

It was just good for us to see the Freshman and Sophomore pitchers pitch so well in those games.
NC state returned 7 starters from a team that was 2 outs from a super regional and w shut them out.

Watch these highlights from UL's Super Regional games against Arizona last year and tell me it's pitcher dominate at the top level of softball. Hitting has come a long way in softball

And so what did the ULM guy say that was out of line? Are you a secret Marshall fan? Figures.

Because Monroe is located in Southern Arkansas.

That made me chuckle because it's so correct.

Day 2 at the Mardi Gras Invitational:

Jags - 4
Lipscomb - 1

Jags - 9
Butler - 4

The 2 freshmen pitchers have looked good in the absence of Beard, our ace. Not sure what's wrong her. She hasn't pitched in over 3 games now.

Through 8 games this year the Cajuns have outscored their opponents 83-1.
The lone run was a solo shot early in Friday's game against Idaho State.

In the 48 innings played so far this season, Cajun pitching has struck out 82 and only walked 9. And this has been done largely without Christina Hamilton, who has pitched only 2 innings so far this season.
