FYI GT Swag Louisville has had players develop medical conditions & injuries to that forced them out of sports & the Cards didn't pull their scholarships. Many of whom had never seen the court or the field as well. GT isn't special here.

Don't like the way it was handled in the Colburn case but UofL as you stated once they become Cardinals take care of their own and they will not pull your scholly due to injuries...just let GTS Continue to be Self Righteous....

You could start by firing Grantham and not paying UGAg 7 figures to get rid of their failing coordinators ever again. You should have expected most GT fans to be tepid anyway given Petrino's history with the Falcons. That is actually irrelevant to me. But you haven't done much to help your case. You had a shot by beating the tards from Athens but instead you gave them the Xmas present of giving Grantham a loss after you paid them seven figures for him and allowed them to massively upgrade.

The staff never "pulled" the offer, they simply asked Colburn to greyshirt so that they could count his scholarship towards next year's class. All that would happen is that he'd sit out or go to prep school for one semester and he'd get his scholarship in January instead of August. It sucks, but most schools end up with a few greyshirts (including GT, FSU, Clemson, VT, UNC, etc).
But then again, that tidbit really messes up the narrative for the moral high horse crowd doesn't it?
A scholarship pays for his education. Sitting out for a semester or going to prep school is on the kid's dime. That is the big difference for you Petrino knob-slobberers.

That isn't happening. Anyway, you should be thanking Louisville!
0-4 vs UGA with Grantham on the sideline
1-0 vs UGA with Pruitt on the sideline
All that matters.

Lorenzo Mauldin turned his grey shirt into an NFL draft pick.

And South Carolina still can't recruit at Maynard Jackson.

This may not be true. According to this article a grey-shirt wouldn't have to go to school the first semester therefore it wouldn't cost him a penny much less a dime.

Here is the Darius Ashley story, a middle of the road recruit who we got, was on the team a couple of years then got 2 DUI's within 7 months...was indefinitely suspended but was able to keep his football scholarship and work on a better life for himself at UL....but those stories are boring and positive and don't make the headlines like this Colburn deal
http://www.thefix.com/content/louisville...-vows-help
UL, Bama, and WVU all did this the same day and I'm sure many more too, why is UL the only grabbing the negative press, I don't know.

That does tell a great story about Charlie Strong's morals. What it has to do with Petrino IDK, but thanks for confirming what I knew years ago from his time at South Carolina....Charlie Strong is one of the good guys in college football.
Quote:UL, Bama, and WVU all did this the same day and I'm sure many more too, why is UL the only grabbing the negative press, I don't know.
I've read reports that the kid from Hoover was notified Monday Jan 26th, or a week prior to yesterday. That would be corroborated by schools contacting him to see if he was opening up his recruiting. While still a raw deal it's worlds different from doing it 36 hours before signing day during a dead period where coaches can't initiate contact with recruits. At least other schools interested in him had the opportunity to let him know if they had room for him. Colburn's coaches had to
There was also speculation that he knew this was a possibility long before it became a reality.
If the West Virginia example you are using is Antonio Howard then it's an apples and oranges situation. According to West Virginia folks Howard was told if he was truly committed then he shouldn't go on any more official visits. He did and WVU pulled his scholarship offer as a result.
I have no problem with grayshirting a player as long as you are upfront about it. IMO this situation reeks because Petrino & Co knew several weeks ago they were losing the underclass DBs to the draft. If they had brought up grayshirting on his official vist (days after the draft deadline) or in the two weeks following the visit it wouldn't be an issue because as y'all have said many times grayshirting is a common occurrence now and Clemson has used it several times. It's the appearance that the grayshirt offer was issued when it was because it was a dead period and the kid would have no choice but accept. THAT'S where the outrage is. Luckily this kid has a coach who has been around recruiting a long time and has been able to secure him opportunities elsewhere.

RE: Petrino and Grantham pull scholly offer, get banned from SC HS
I really like the city of Louisville and I've never had any problem with their fans at games. However, I do think that university is a little slimy.
They just seem like a win at all costs type of place and that's cool. Some schools need to do that. I just don't respect it.
I mean they hired Bobby Petrino back for god's sake. What kind of institution of higher education would do that? The guy is obviously a slimeball. He has always been a slimeball whether he was working for Louisville or Arkansas or the Atlanta Falcons. Why anyone thinks that would change now is beyond me?
Some schools' slimeball tolerance is very high if said coach wins. Petrino is an excellent coach and he will win there so their fans will hold their noses and try to defend the indefensible.
Whatever.
Rick Pitino is another long time slimeball. He was paying for abortions and banging waitresses in the back rooms at his restaurant and all the rest of it. They don't care at all - so long as he wins.
I think it probably comes from being so entrenched in SEC territory where the pressure to compete with a bunch of filthy, cheating corrupt schools causes them to not blink when they too join the morass. I mean how many convict transfers have they taken in and all the rest of it? Is there anyone out there who doesn't think they're cheating their balls off?
Is there anyone who would be surprised if Sports Illustrated had a five part series detailing the Bobby Patrino is a cheater? To me predicting that will happen is a bit like predicting there will be a Tuesday next week.
