maybe if ray watts sorry ass was any type of leader he could have done a better job in the grant arena. The feds changed their methods of awarding grants and we kept doing the same crap we had always done. Ray you got to change and innovate. He also FAILED to retain some of the best researchers on the med side. Watts played a part in the decline in funding but was rewarded by being named president. Wow BOT what a dumb*** move.

From what Ive heard the drs really don't like him and think hes in over his head. My specialist left UAB because he was tired of the crap and is now in practice with some others who left.

Is there a way to document how many researchers and money has walked since Ray has been in charge of the SOM and UAB?

Finis says the board answers to the people of Alabama. How exactly does this work? The people have no involvement in the selection nor removal of board members. Finis needs to understand that without the ability to remove someone from a position they are in fact answerable to no one.

When the board makes poor decisions they don't take corrective steps instead they hire a public relations firm to try and convince the masses that they are doing a fabulous job.

My conclusion is that Finis = that needs to be removed.

I can only speak about the research side (part of it is SOM, part is not). We gain and lose researchers and their grant money every year. One of the bigger ones in recent years was Dr. Max Cooper. He was able to get a good chunk of money for at least a dozen other researchers. He left about 5 years ago and that eliminated at least $10 million (probably 2x or 3X that much in reality). That money comes and goes as it always has.

Finis is stupid to try to link that to UAB Athletics. Cancer research (and everything else on the research side) goes on with or without football.

Intelligence is not a requirement to be a member of the UABOT. You just have to know somebody on the board to nominate you. If you, or your spouse, or child work at Bryant Bank, you can count on it.

That is it! We get a few stealth employees into Bryant Bank, get them moved up into good positions there and then, get them elected to the BoT.

But doesn't the BOT check your privates for the RTR tattoo? We'll never get past that requirement.

The guy asking the questions, sounds familiar...Like the questions he's asking, they're direct and on point. Fess is choosing his answer carefully when asked about Jack Williams, claiming that he and the board wants to "work with him." Yeah, right! Now Fess claims they want open dialogue with UAB and Birmingham residents...Bull****!!!!
