The purpose of government is to serve the people. All of it's people. The only way they can do that is to collect taxes. Naturally, the ones that make the most money are going to pay the most taxes.

But that isn't how it works. Many people pay no Federal income taxes (between 43 and 47 percent). A number of the actually get BIGGER refunds than they pay in income taxes, which is a clear cut wealth transfer. That's revolting to our sensibilities.

That's why we should have a flat tax for everyone. Want to know why we don't? Because the rich would pay even more if we did.
