Rumor is Rivals made Jim Baxter pull his tweets blasting Louisville last night, but Baxter is still highly pissed. Baxter is very respected in the SC high school football scene having covered SC HS sports long before Rivals was even created and runs a camp program that goes all over the state every year and most of the state's top QB and WR prospects attend. He has a bunch of SC HS coaches that work the camp as well.

Kerry Fair of SC Preps on Scout doesn't have the influence that Jim Baxter has simply because Baxter has been around longer, but he's well connected as well. That's his editorial above. Fair is especially upset because he had a close relationship with Colburn.

Phil Kornblut of Palmetto Recruiting and the statewide SportstalkSC radio show carried influence as well. The show Twitter feed blasted Petrino and the radio program has blasted him all night so far.

Of course the Clemson and South Carolina centered sites are running this full blast.

It was a hot topic on local sports talk radio in both the Columbia and Charleston markets today that I heard as I was in Charleston earlier and get the Columbia market here at home.

SO, WHO are the COACHES?

The reason I ask is because if ONE of their kids commits to ANY program then backs out or changes THAT commit then THAT COACH should be held accountable. THEIR word is crap, right?

Is Dabo or the ol' ball coach calling high school coaches in South Carolina CRAP? Are they saying that certain high school coaches are untrustworthy?

Not the same thing whatsoever. If it were then Louisville would only issue out as many offers per position as they had openings and not 18 QB offers, 35 RB offers, etc. Not to mention you are saying that your 53 year old head coach is exactly the same as a 17 year old kid. In this case we can see that Petrino isn't anything like Colburn.....Colburn was loyal and a man of his word and this incident once again shows that Petrino isn't.

And BTW, the Old Ballsack isn't welcome in a couple SC high schools now because of actions, including doing pretty much the same thing to a player that I am pretty sure ended up at Louisville.

Try and spin it any way you want, this is going to hurt Louisville for a long time in South Carolina and elsewhere as anybody who is going head to head with Petrino over a player is going to use this as reason #1035272 why you can't trust a word that comes out of Petrino's mouth.

Kap, you are right. I just want to know what Middle Schools are ******* that High School coach and going behind his back?

He has to be livid about THAT doesn't he?

CRAP, he would have a much better team if "those" other schools would stay away from "His" kids. Damn!

Re: [split] So how's recruiting going?
Kap what about the other 20+ recruits that Patrino has "stayed loyal to"? I guess 1 unfortunate incident over rides everything else. Louisville has survived this long without SC recruits so I am sure they will survive without them going forward if thats the case. They made good ground in Geo & Ala while Fla came through for them in a big way this year. Also they are breaking ground in Okl in 2016 which could also lead to Tex as well. If a SC prospect is good enough in the future the door will be open for them here.

Mudslinging is common in recruiting so I wouldn't expect anything less from competitors. Dont you think that everyone has been slinging mudd at Patrino & Louisville this year? With all of the late additions this week Patrino has put together at worst the 2nd best class in Louisville history. The Bridgewater class has the highest ranking for the Cards which finished at #28. This class is now ranked in the top 30 by ESPN.

It is wise to offer more than what you have spots for because its common for recruit to decommit. Look at Kentucky for example, last week their class was ranked top 30 but with all of their decommitments they are no longer in the top 40. This sort of thing happens both ways. Fortunately for the Cards their recruits stayed committed, what does that have to say about Patrino & Louisville? They were able to hold off top SEC programs & fellow ACC programs & kept their top recruits.

So what if a player who announces on TV he is going to one school then changes his mind?

Should the High School Coach be held accountable?

Hey....if you want your 53 year old head coach to be as mature as a 17 year old kid then that is a reflection on you, not me.

I'm just happy that we have a coach with better morals than that rather than one with absolutely no morals at all. Perhaps that's a big reason why we were able to lock down our recruiting class so soon and have the foundation laid for another a year in advance.

So what I'm reading in your post is that Clemson has NO excuses for the next several years.

There shouldn't be any reason for the ACC not to go through us or FSU for the foreseeable future.

Please, no morals, really? Give Patrino time & he too will be able to lay recruiting foundation in advanced as well.

Did he put his daughter in charge so he wouldn't be tempted to take someone else for a ride on his motorcycle?

Fully aware how grayshirts work. We have one this class and two in school right now from last year's. The difference is we were up front with these kids from the beginning and didn't wait until the last minute when other school's classes were either full or close to full and it was a dead period where other interested coaches couldn't contact the prospect to give him a scholarship offer to do it.

Hmm...no charges filed and Knotts kept his job at Independence until he took the job at Dutch Fork.

Yep, that puts him on the same level as someone who:

A. Left a job in the NFL for a job in college and didn't bother to tell his head coach, who found out when the college announced the hiring.

B. Tried to undermine a coach who had previously hired him

C. Lied to everyone about it even after being confronted with the evidence until the school he was trying to go to went public about it.

D. Left a job in the middle of a season and notified his players by a note posted in the locker room. This was just a few weeks after telling the media he wasn't interested in leaving.

E. Hired a married woman to a position she wasn't qualified for who later turned out to be his mistress.

F. Wrecked his motorcycle while tooling around with said mistress, tried to prevent witnesses not to call law enforcement because of her, He later lies to his employer about being alone during the crash,

Yeah, totally the same thing here. 04-bs

I believe the dead period was for face to face contact only. Phone, texts & such were still allowed.

The Cards still had multiple committed recruits still talking with other schools as late as NSD ( Jackson with Fla). When they announced their intent to stay the Cards were over the limit, normaly the Cards lose a few near NSD. One of those kids, Redwine, instead committed to Miami today. Louisville allows their commitments to still talk & visit other schools, that is why they over recruit. It is easily conceivable that this played a roll in the Colburn case. As it turned out with the Redwine switch that a scholarship would have been available since they only signed 24 today.

I dont believe the grey shirt was planned or done out of spite as is being claimed. I dont believe they planned on grey shirting anyone but after they picked up commitments from 4* Fields & Peete along with the others reommitting they found themselves over the 25 limit.

If you remember also Granthem was offered a job with the Raiders, if he would've left the Cards were in danger of losing many key recruits on the defensive end. There was a lot going on for Louisville these last 2 weeks, without a crystal ball it is impossible to predict what was going to happen.

The Colburn situation was tragic but sometimes these things cant be helped. He is a good kid with a bright future, we wish him the best & hope things work out for him. We also wish Redwine luck at Miami.

Face it Kap. Y'all are using this. Knotts is a hot head and also loved in NC and SC as a coach. A lot of connections and elbow rubbing. He went to Duke, Coached at Duke and UofL sued Duke so he is blowing this issue up as payback. Duke won the lawsuit in Kentucky and he has hated that ever since. As a bystander all you can do is NOT lose.

I have no doubt NC, NCST, SC, Clem., VU, VT will use this against us in the region.

As to Dabo, all he is, is a witness. He could tell what he knows. But he won't cause he benefits and the light isn't on him.

This IS just Football right?
