RE: UTSA Thread
UAB is favored in 8 of its final 9 games, though five of them we are only favored by a single possession (mostly road matchups). The next game against La Tech at home, we are a 2 to 3 point underdog. We need that win to split with LT and possibly overtake them. They will still have road games against MTSU, Charlotte, and ODU after playing us on the road. WKU has to play @UAB, @MTSU, @Charlotte, @ODU as well.

RE: UTSA Thread
We only have 4 road games left.
Rice, North Texas, and both F_U's.
With Western Ky and La Tech at Bartow we are in a great position.
Thursday night vs La Tech is a huge game. Biggest from a conference championship perspective in a while.

I agree. I want to be able to go into the conference tournament with the confidence that we'll have *some* sort of post-season. First place isn't exactly out of reach. Both La Tech and WKU still have some tough road games ahead, notably at ODU. Hopefully they'll have one or two WTF losses on the road as well...and hopefully we'll steer clear of WTF losses.

We are getting better on the road. We must continue our success at home. We are shooting the lights out in Bartow. We'll need to versus La Tech and WKU. I don't think any teams behind us have any real chance to catch up.

Also, that technical was huge. 5 point swing and we never looked back.

The thing that I like best about this team is we don't have to depend on 1 or 2 guys to carry the load on offense. We have a deep bench and every single player is capable of scoring double digit points in any given game. That's gotta be tough to defend.

I'd say us and La Tech are the best defending teams in the conference. We really need to be better behind the arc on the road. Cokley, Mehinti, and Lee are the best front court in the conference, IMO.

Not only did our bench outscore their bench 37-6, they outscored our starters 37-28.

Biggest game of the season. I know we kinda keep saying that, but if we lose this game we are essentially 3 back of la tech with the tiebreaker. If we win it, we control our destiny with the best remaining schedule of the teams at the top of the conference.

I'm loving every game this team wins bc it proves several of our fans wrong who were certain this was the worst team, and worst coach in program history.

We have a bunch of ballers on this team. Some nights we'll favor the 3. Some nighta we'll eat in the paint. Some nights our bench takes over. We have everything you could want going in to February. The only thing we lack is experience. We have time and lots of it to correct that.

I loved being proven wrong, but you can't really argue that the season didn't start out completely awful with losing so many OOC games at home.

According to liverpi, we've now faced 9 Expected Top 100 teams and are 1-8 against them. Lost 2 100-199 RPI games in ULM and @Chattanooga. 1 WTF loss in South Florida at home.

Only have 3 top 200 games remaining: La. Tech, WKU, MTSU. All at home. If we can beat LT and WKU at home we probably win at least a share of the regular season conference title assuming we don't completely crumble in the remaining road games.

My argument was never that the season started out well, it was always that we were a young team without defined roles. After Atlantis, Haase knew we had to win the conference to get in the postseason. He did a lot of things that he stopped doing once conference play started to figure out how the pieces fit together. Even I didn't see this turnaround coming. I thought we'd finish somewhere around 10-8 in conference. We are all obviously thrilled with the progress this team has made.

MB I have a question for you, do you know what the most different leading scorers we've had in a season is? By my count we have 5 so far this year, and I don't think that it's out of the realm of possibility to add another 1 or two this season.(Cokley lee and Madison are 3 that haven't lead us in any game yet)

Yeah, I understand.

Sitting here looking at statsheet's experience meter. UAB is the 9th youngest team in the country.

La. Tech at 258.
UTEP at 235.
WKU at 222.
ODU at 222.
MTSU at 112.

Crazy.
