This article basically sums everything up, but we ended up having i think 10 fouls called on us in 5 minutes. A huge point of discussion at the press conference today was asking what was going on, and CRH let us know he's frustrated. I'm not implying anyone thinks there's shady stuff going on with regards to teams, but right now, watching SBC games becomes a joke just because of the officiating. I'm hoping that with the amount of questions the media is bringing up about it, the conference can actually make a statement on it or at least acknowledge that something is going on.
so all SEVEN technicals on harrow this year is a part of some conspiracy? not that he can't keep his piehole shut. it couldn't be that could it?
harrow had one of his own players come after him on the sideline last year. but it couldn't be him? right?
what would the conference say in their statement? we've done a thorough investigation and have concluded there is in fact a giant conspiracy against the huckster and by association his players.
really?
Don't even include the tech. That was just the icing on the cake. I'm saying that when you get call after call with absolutely nothing happening on the floor, somebody needs to ask why are there fouls being called? There were about 5 whistles blown one after the other, and nobody even knew what they were calling. At one point, it was blown while ArkSt was inbounding, no GSU players by the ball, no GSU players touching any of the other players, just a clean inbounds and the whistle blows. And it's not like there isn't video evidence to back it up, hell i'll post the game video when it's put up and you can watch for yourself. But when this happens, the league has to say "we can't have officials blowing fantom calls all game long."
In the end, these refs get their paychecks from the 'belt. And today, they did a terrible job. They have a job, and they did it very poorly. If i go to work and do a job poorly, i'll be reviewed, and at best i'll be put on warning, or at worst i'll be fired. Refs shouldn't be treated any differently. If they get the call wrong over and over again, they shouldn't be hired to do that job because they're clearly bad at it.

The contributions on this board alone should be enough to improve Georgia Southern's standing in the national rankings for graphic design programs.

Bobcat losing streak now stands at 5. Cats go on the road for two against USA on the 4th, UALR on the 7th, before returning home to host UTA on the 12th. Things sure change in a hurry in this league. . . .

Comments/Summaries for Sun Belt bball games: Saturday Jan. 31
TXST has lost 6 of their last 7. Starting to lose that magical feeling from the start of conference and feel like old times with the blowouts. Wish our turnaround was as fast as Georgia Southerns. There's always next year. I'm starting to think that's the school motto.

I have to say, I usually enjoy the GS promos. Even the anti-Panther smack images your fans make (Zuul panther, pink panther). That one with the schoolbuses on the connector for the Tech game still sticks in my head.

i inherited a kid in baseball one time. his previous year he'd gotten on the bad side of the umps. before he pitched in each game i had him apologize to the umps for his previous year's behavior. and reign in any gestures over balls and strikes. he ended up having a pretty good year for me and the umps started giving him calls.
if you think refs don't know who has a rep then you're very naive. harrow built the rep. he's gonna have to live with it. you know the huckster isn't gonna reign him in. harrow is the only person with any power over getting future technicals.
if he has 7 technicals he probably has more technicals than probably 300 teams in america. and i'm just pulling that number out my assho. i'd have no idea where to find the stat.
Oh, no doubt Ryan's the only one who can truly control his own fate. I do recognize that his emotion fuels him, and it's often treatment of teammates that gets him fired up, which I can respect. I honestly don't know if the complete turnaround you decribed with your player is the way to go with Harrow. I just wish he had a better radar for when to pull back. If it catches up to him/us at a critical moment, and a questionable call goes against him because of his rep...well, hey, we're gonna question it, even while recognizing the process that made it happen.

Harrow has no idea how lucky he is that Georgia Southern's student section is just a shaddow of its former self. If he had walked into Hanner with that rep circa 2003-2006, the Hanner Hooligans probably would have coaxed tech No. 8 out of him before the end of warm-ups.
