Lady Broncos
Last night was an emotional night for all players invoived in the WMU vs EMU women's basketball game. You could tell that the EMU players were playing with heavy hearts after losing their team mate on Saturday night.
I'm proud of the way that my Broncos handled the evening beginning with the handing out of the "32" cards to everyone, and the pregame ceremony linking arms with the EMU players during the moment of silence, and the national anthem. Our Athletic Director went to the EMU bench greeting all players and coaches with hugs and words of caring.
The EMU team draped the number "32" jersey over the chair of their missing teammate.
After the game there was more than the formal handshakes, the line moved slowly as each coach and player from each team engaged in another round of emotional hugs.
I thank the EMU folks that came to game to support these young ladies. The whole event was a class act by both schools and each school can be proud of their teams.
The Lady Broncos won, and are still leading the west division with the heated rivalry game coming up next week.
Always proud to be a Bronco, RTB.

RE: Lady Broncos
Read the Mlive article, was very touching.
WMU has been involved in some emotional games.
First UM football game after 9-11. Most emotional national anthem ever.
First game following the mass killings at NIU.
And the very emotional Charlie Coles game where several local doctors saved his life, and a few hours later they finished the game led by Wally Szerbiack sp.
