To spout unadulterated nonsense? To b*tch, moan, and complain? To take your ball and go home? To talk about nothing other than firing a coach instead of the team the board is supposed to be supporting? Enlighten us.

Micky a sports board provides a place for the fans to talk about their team.

Everyone posting here is a fan of the team and wants the best for the program. Now, thoughts on that may differ.

The staff at ualr or any college reads a board some to see how the fans are reacting but they have to do what they think is right for the school.

Its ok to voice a that things are wrong.

I know you have room at the house for the whole coaching staff if they need a place in the transition.

But they will not everyone of them will get a job after this one that pays to their skill set and negotiating Level.

I want you to read what you posted and ask reself some questions.

Is it nonsense because i dont believe it or because i dont like it?

Is the only thing left when a team blows up to rebuild?

How do you rebuild if not to replace the head coach after firing all the player and assistant coaches several times over?

How do you get people back in the stands that are looking for a watchable product in central arkansas?

That last one is a big key as you lost me until we reboot. You lost a guy that will bring friends and family to see d1 basketball.

Im who any school is marketing to right after alumni.

RE: Cheer Up Everyone...It's Hate Week!
We obviously don't share the same opinions on everything concerning the Trojan program, but the one thing we all share is the desire for the program to be better. Some feel change is required, and the only way they can make a statement is to stop sending money to the program until that change is made. Others feel changes should be made, but they still buy season tickets and support the program financially. And I would imagine there are some who think things are perfect, although I haven't heard from them lately. I agree that the administration reads the board some to at least get a feel for what some fans are thinking. But in the long run, the AD, probably along with the Chancellor, have to do what is financially reasonable for the program. I have faith that Chasse will ultimately make the decision to make a coaching change. It might be next year instead of this year, but at some point it will be done. He won't sit around like Chris did and let the program go to Hell. In the meantime, lets hope that things improve. They can't get a lot worse.

It's got nothing to do with what I think, if he's smart, and if he really wants to turn this thing around, and if he's got no limit on his actions, and can do anything he thinks is best, he'll replace Shields at the end of the season. If not, then he's either not as smart as you two seem to think, or he's somebody's puppet. But, I'm trying to figure out why anyone as smart as you two guys, would want to keep him.

I haven't pushed to keep him or fire him. I only say that I always leave that to those whose responsibilities it is, and I will support the team with my attendance and money no matter what.

I do not want to fire him. I want him to gracefully resign to take another position somewhere. Maybe there should be term limits at mid majors like politics. Say two four year terms at the most. Of course if you're a Power Five conference, a coach can stay there 40 years like Coach K, especially if he wins over 25 games a season consistently and wins national championships. I could live with that.

You can call it what you want. Many coaches are "allowed" to resign. We all know it means they were fired. No disgrace in that. Happens to most coaches, at least, once in their career.

I never liked the term "fired". It has an ugly ring to it. Resigned sounds so much nicer. And when Steve leaves, and he will at some point like all coaches, I want him to go out with grace. After all, he has done many good things for our program and continues to represent us well. I'd like him to find another position and make a fresh start. He would be a great addition as an assistant at a power conference school. I don't think he'd have any difficulty in finding a good job somewhere.

I have no idea what the job market would be for a 50 year old coach fired from a "low major". Can't imagine that he would be what a "power" school would be looking for.

He has won a lot of games at a school that many would agree is a difficult place to recruit. I believe he is well respected in the coaching ranks. He might do well at a new school. Sometimes a fresh start is needed to rejuvenate someone.

In the free market you are paid for your skill set.

Is ualr just to continue paying steve because it would be hard on him to find another 250k job?

After ypu cross the 100k mark in pay you are past just riding it out in a for profit company job.

Ualr is a government job but the sports program has to earn money. You cant pay that kind of money and not have fans in the stands due to a losing poor to watch product.

Can't argue with that logic.
