Would absolutely love to see him get his shot as a HC, young, energetic, bright, all the things you want. Particularly in Chicago where they have a young future franchise qb that needs some whispering.

Where exactly did you hear this from? Being an eagles fan myself, I would hate to see Flip leave. He has been HUGE in the development of Wentz.

RE: John DeFilippo
Well, last year the Jets requested to interview JDF for OC and were denied their request because the Eagles thought they might lose Reich to another team and wanted to keep JDF in house so they could promote him to OC if Reich left (he obviously didn't). So if they are afraid of losing JDF this year then they might make the move as described above and promote each of them up a level.

The Texans did something similar last year. They were afraid they were going to lose Vrabel (who was their linebackers coach) to another team where he would be a DC. So to protect against this the Texans promoted Romeo Crennel from DC to AHC and made Vrabel the DC in order to keep him in house.

Maybe the Eagles should think about putting Flip in at QB.

This was said about the status of current NFL coaches and assistants in a Washington Post article on Sunday:
"John DeFilippo, Eagles quarterbacks coach: He doesn’t turn 40 until April. But if NFL teams are looking for the next Sean McVay this offseason, he could be it"

Vikings officially requested permission to interview Eagles’ QB coach John DeFilippo about their OC job, per source.

DeFilippo is now looking at 3 legit paths to being an OC next season (and I would suspect he might even get an interview for HC with the Colts).
(1) Stay in Philly if Reich leaves or (2) go to Minnesota or (3) go with Reich to Indy.
In the first two cases he would be inheriting a top-tier overall offense / elite passing offense. Using DVOA as the measuring stick, Minnesota had the 5th ranked overall offense (3rd ranked passing offense) and Philly had the 8th ranked overall offense (5th ranked passing offense) in 2017.

Eagles can deny their request in which case Minnesota would have to wait until 10 days after the Eagles' season ended for the interview which would be 2/14. It seems like Minnesota would be willing to wait if they had to; would also give Reich time to make his decision regarding his future in Philly prior to an interview for DeFilippo in Minny.

Yep. The Eagles denying the request would probably be the best case for DeFlippo.

Not saying you are wrong, but I could argue that Minnesota has the better offense and the luxury of 3 or more (Cousins? Foles?) QB options for Flip to choose from and might be a great landing spot for him for a year or two.

I'm not arguing one team over the other. I'm stating that if the request is denied, he will know if he is Philly's '18 OC or not before he talks to Minnesota. This gives him complete information to make his decision.

If Philly said, 'sure interview in Minnesota today', he doesn't have that benefit and is in an holding pattern until the Colts, Reich AND the Eagles make decisions.

Minnesota reportedly "willing to wait" to interview Flip.

Reich lead dog for Indy job after McDaniel backed out.

Appears an almost sure thing that Philly will lose Reich or Flip. Hopefully not both. Flip would likely become Eagles OC if Reich were to move on, and Flip hadnt taken the Vikings job yet.

"They're getting a very, very, very industrious & very smart, young coach. He's worked his way up in the profession.. knows the game.. understands Quarterback play. He's a bright, young coach. Easy to get along with."
