I can only imagine that the responsibilities would be that they must reaffirm what Ray did as from what I've read so far that looks to be the scope of it already before they even met[where's that blue font when you need it]

I don't think so. There are some strong, pro-football members of the committee, one of which said there will be football at UAB again no matter what the cost.

The real question is are they going to look back at the Carr report process like the first committee was doing. Those guys were asking some really pointed questions and getting some interesting answers.

You cannot continue to dangle the carrot in front of the students & keep pulling it back.

The students eventually will be fed up with it & then all hell will break loose.

The committee may work out and restore football, but you never put all your eggs in one basket, which is why I have wrote letters to my Representatives in Montgomery.

Yes there are & I hope you're right but from what I read the focus of the group is so narrow that they can only end up reaffirming what Watts/Carr did. Thats not to say that the group won't go out of the focus but the previous committee was starting to do just that & it ended up dissolved

Let's wait until the letter comes out. I want to see what they are setting as their parameters, what they intend to investigate. I don't know that we can intelligently comment on what they are or are not doing before that.

Wes Smith is playing a delicate game right now. For him this game has consequences; for us posting on the internet not so much. I understand Mr Smith's game and I agree with it. The job has been done and it will most likely take the President of UAB to reverse the decision to disband football, bowling, and rifle. So if you alienate Watts 100% and get rid of him, then the BOT simply installs another puppet with the simplest instruction ever: "DO NOT REINSTATE FOOTBALL." How can we get rid of this new President? He/She has done nothing wrong and we simply can't get rid of them and all he/she has to do is not reinstate football. In other words, we lose.

I believe we have enough force that the day the new president is announced - if they do not reinstate football on the same day or shortly thereafter, we go after their head. And it will not be pretty.

Stuff will be destroyed, it will make national news.

That is how at this point you get them to listen to you.

You fight force with more force.

Which listens better a leashed dog or a wild one?

Right now the leashed dog isn't being paid that much attention.
There still is time though for things to work out.

If Watts somehow steers the committee in a wrong way, the students & alums may have seen enough.

Some of us could bite nails right now.

Watts can't steer the committee to my knowledge. This committee is meeting independent of him. Now he does have the final say in what the committee finds however, so we shall see.

Also, there are still a few more things that can be done by the students & faculty should the BOT decided to continue to look the other way.

I agree keep up the protests and remind everyone this hasn't been forgotten. Tim Alexander has done a wonderful and fantastic job. I hate it for the young man. I think about all the nice things this team and Coach Clark did for him and how much he loved UAB football and I won't lie it makes me sad and mad.

We're not winning with "force" or "destroying" anything other than political force and destroying corrupt political infrastructure.

Whether or not Watts stays or goes is inconsequential unless we have political influence over the replacement. Right now I'm not sure we have that, but we needed the vote of no confidence anyways. BoT hubris may be working to our advantage.

I hope I'm wrong about Wes Smith's leadership skills, but its worth listening to the theory about what he's doing. Right now he isn't a priority target that effects anything.
