RE: New TV deal predicitons
I have a question for those that know something about media negotiations. If C-USA were to wait and go to the open market with an offer of packages such as 4 packages of 10 football games, would that be more likely to entice an espn or nbc sports or cbs sports to bid? Smaller commitment by them but perhaps a higher total for C-USA. Then sell the remainder that wasn't selected to ASN.

I also see ASN sell some of their games to the MASN network up here, which isnt bad because they have pretty good viewership and probably more sports fans. I wouldnt mind seeing NBCSports be a bigger part of the mix, along with ESPN or FOX (but Fox needs to show more CUSA games if they are our flagship station) and ASN. Ive been happy with the production and availability of ASN.

NBC Sports is national too. It is in almost as many homes as Fox Sports 1 I think.

MASN is great, its how I watch just about every CUSA game on American SPorts through Direct TV...

Trying to bring ARMY on board (football only) could spice up the TV deal. I realize there are many problems (competitiveness, contracts, scheduling, football only method) with this idea, however it seems like an option which should be THOROUGHLY considered. This idea should not be quickly dismissed.

RE: New TV deal predicitons
I think Fox ends up with our 1st tier rights. Our conference fits nicely into many of their regional networks. With more conference networks being formed, I believe they have fewer options for FBS content. Maybe that will enhance C-USA's position. I think Fox has been good to C-USA and I'd really like for us to stay with them.

I think NBC will end up with our 2nd tier rights. They show a few FCS games now and then. I really think they want FBS content, but it seems with the exception of C-USA, ESPN has a monopoly on FBS football. Fox and NBC might even agree to share 1st tier rights. That would be nice too.

I think the ASN is great. I certainly believe it is a better option than having our extra inventory streamed on ESPN3. I hate ESPN3. I hope we can extend our relationship with them, even if there isn't much money right now.

If we could continue with Fox and get our championship game aired nationally on the Fox network, I would be a very happy man. If the MWC can have it's title game on CBS, why can't ours be on Fox?

CUSA games would be perfect for Fox sports 2 or 3. Payment would be a couple of kegs of Natty Ice for each school.

Maybe Temple could adopt that strategy to get people to actually go to their games... 03-shhhh

It will keep going up until cable costs go down. This past football season helped and getting 2 bids in the tourney would help even more

I predict a deal with Fox Sports 1 and NBC Sports. I think our leadership has finally accepted that ESPN doesn't care about CUSA. We'll expand back to 14 and each member will get an annual payout of around $1.4 million.

I'm not impressed with Fox, especially with basketball. ODU has a capacity crowd tonight in basketball, lost two games all season, and they couldn't pick this up?

Fox Sports 1 gets our Tier One rights for 3 years, and pays CUSA $1.6M per school, per year.

NBC Sports get our Tier Two rights, and pays CUSA 300K per school, per year.

ASN, everybody's favorite, get Tier 3 rights.

Basketball coverage is terrible, but isn't that a completely different contract? I'm for inviting a handful of basketball- only schools to improve our profile.

The key is to get every football game on TV or streamed. So Tier III rights should be retained by the conference.
