Recorded Interview, Watts on the Carr Report: "I haven't really seen the analysis."
Zip to 1:26 if you want to hear the question and the quote.

Dan Harralson Interviews Ray Watts

Edit: A nice video montage from Dan if you have time: http://youtu.be/9FH9-AvuYxo

According to Dan Harralson's recent facebook post, Jim Bakken from UAB Media Relations contacted Dan today and asked him to retract this story.

There's nothing to retract. It's an audio of Ray talking to Dan. Legally obtained. Of course now Bakken is claiming that Ray did read the report beforehand but dang, Ray just fessed up.

What a "data driven process." This just keeps getting more and more absurd.

Maybe Watts doesn't know what he doesn't know.

Watts may have been saying he had not seen the analysis of the Carr report done by the media. I don't think he indicated he had not read the Carr report itself.

That's a good point, but the rest of the conversation is difficult to hear but it sounds like he's trying to say its too much to read and they're working through it.

Plus, why would the media relations try to get him to retract it?

Well, that would make him an idiot, wouldn't it. Surely any one with a lick of sense would want to know what problems the media - actually experts in sports economics - have found with the report that he relied on in the process of causing the biggest blow up in UAB history. Is there no end to the man's incompetence.

Of course even a brilliant man would look stupid if he blindly tried to do the bidding of Bryant and St. John.

Yes, he wasn't talking about the Carr Report itself.

Watts doesn't care about any of this. He made his decision, and he doesn't want to read anything that is second guessing the data he used to make his decision. He is looking toward the future, not the past. I just hope the past finally catches up with him and knocks him out as president of UAB.

This audio alone should show just how ridiculous it is that Watts was even appointed to be President. Of course, we all know the reasoning behind the selection, but Watts speaking in a non-controlled environment (such as this call) is simply hilarrassing (a portmanteau I just created, because he is simply so shameful and deserving of a new word).

He's haughty and antisocial enough, that he can't even "go rogue" and BS stuff off of the cue cards. Hard to imagine this guy interacting with anyone in a normal situation and in a normal way.

This guy is the BoT's perfect stooge. He's arrogant and awkward enough that he *almost* appears as a savant, when he is actually just a typical, silver-spoon-implanted-up-the-rear snob.

This is the kind of person that when overwhelmed, he'll lose it, like the Colonel on the stand in "A Few Good Men."
We just need to keep up the pressure and open the gas-line all the way... Eventually, there will be a spark and he'll explode.

RE: Recorded Interview
As mentioned before, I think he's just stating that he hasn't taken a look at all the articles criticizing the Carr Study.

While I don't think he's exactly running daily searches, I do believe he is properly informed by people in the administration, the PR firm, or probably both. Officially, he just doesn't have any reason to admit as much. Saying that his decision process rubbed people the wrong way is one thing, but the findings that have been reported in these articles are too damaging for him to acknowledge. Saying he hasn't seen the analysis is a gaff regardless, though. I'm also still surprised he handles public speaking so poorly.

A brilliant man would use federal law to throw those two under a bus and reconstruct the BoT in a more fair fashion!
