Not that crap again, grow up.

If anything needs done to the Liberty Bowl, it's tearing 3/5ths of it down and converting it to a high school stadium and possible MLS venue.

Building on campus is a waste of resources especially considering that everything football related is at the south campus. Supporting a new downtown stadium that offers the same synergies that has benefitted the hoops team is best.

Come on now, you know that unitl very recently the favorite place for anyone to go to a Razorback game was War Memorial in Little Rock. The Liberty Bowl is modern compared to WM. I like both of those stadiums

War Memorial was a dump in the 80's, 90's, 2000s and still is today.

The writing was on the wall when the interstate from I-40 and Razorback Stadium was brought up to snuff. Aside from the freakshow that is the tailgating scene that is the golf course, it was a complete toilet bowl. Even the Golf course scene has gotten so bad, I refuse to take my kids to the lets drink till we puke fest that is a game at Little Rock, All the games will be gone soon, no conference game there in 2015 only Toledo. Ten years too late, The north end zone will get redone really soon in Fayetteville to give it a completely enclosed with value added seating(club/loge and suites) though I doubt much capacity will be added. There's zero need of over 80,000. This seems to be the working copy but I imagine it'll stray a bit

The Liberty Bowl has always been better than WMS, But like I said, the suites are half way to the moon, The sightlines are good but like this thread points out, very difficult to modify to increase premium seating. The location sucks, no food, hotels anywhere within walking range of the stadium nor easy access to interstates.

As for the Liberty Bowl and my idea to scale it back, here's a pic, raze it all the way to the lower blue seating area and and install a façade and shade structure like the MLS stadiums around the smaller, left over oval with suites along the top.

This would be another complementing component to the city's overall venue offerings. It offers plenty of space for a practice facility of a professional league team, a ready built tailgating area, areas for fields for youth tourneys and a concert venue for shows between the 18,000 cap of the Forum or the 50.000plus of an enclosed downtown stadium. Think Jimmy Buffet or events like the Warped Tour.

Here's Sporting Park in KCK hosting a concert

I was just having fun with you, the writing was on the wall for WM as soon as the Hawgs joined the SEC.

If I did anything structurally to the LB I would take out the end zones. One nice thing about the LB suites being so high is that you can see downtown and the river from there.

When I mentioned the other soccer fields, it was because of a redevelopment that got nixed by the recession that was to house their MLS team. It has many of the elements that's proposed for the Fairgrounds, mixed use retail, hotels, and sporting tourney hosting aspect along with office park areas. The area was an old mall much like the Mall of Memphis along a major interstate.

The stadium eventually went to Legends area out in KCK by the Nascar track and an existing outlet mall, minor league park and Great Wolf Lodge, but this would have happened had it not been for the recession. I think Cerner did build some offices there

it just doesnt work. to prove it, think back to around right before the 1999 season, they built an idiotic alumimiun platform that was taller than the surrounding seats. it was elevated because they had to get above the existing concrete structure to make the seating aisle conformant to code. since the geometry of that platform did not work with the exiting seating risers, you had more space taken away by stairs to access the platform. if they had not had fan day at the stadium that year, around 15000 tiger fans would have shown up at the mississippi game and not been able to see half the field because the height of the silly thing. a whole lot of people pitched a holy fit that day and those things were down before game, but peoples season tickets were totally mucked up over the fiasco. our season tickets were moved to a row that didnt exist physically, it did on the university seating manifest though. imagine our suprise when we showed up for the mississippi game to find out hey - you dont have a seat. sorry about that. totally insane and nobody ever fessed up who approved the drawings and wrote the check for that thing.

You have been saying this for years....I don't understand how it does not sink in for some.....

HAHAHA....
From the article dated August 11th 2016:

Quote:The U of M is reportedly among the leading candidates for expansion, which could be announced by the Power 5 league's Sept. 2 season start date, or perhaps in October when its board of directors meets. Big 12 leaders instructed league commissioner Bob Bowlsby to actively explore expansion options following a July 19 meeting in Dallas.

Among the many factors believed to enhance the U of M's standing are stadium size and quality, which is why the City Council voted last year to approve $4.8 million in seating upgrades that will be repaid by the U of M.

"When you look at the significant investments the city has made over the years to the Liberty Bowl and Tiger Lane, hopefully the Big 12 will see that we are committed to an unbelievable game day experience," said council member Reid Hedgepeth, a former U of M football player who sponsored the council's resolution.
