Instead, get familiar with young, up-and-coming coaches in lower conferences. There are a bunch.

Two schools of thought. One, GP wouldn't just throw this out there for no reason. Two, he knows that a segment of our fanbase is comprised of psychos and is ******* with us.

I think both scenarios are equally plausible.

I'm sure he did it to screw with our fanbase. I wonder how the Wichita State boosters feel about him throwing his name out there?

Why should we believe that GP has more insight into what's going on with Greg Marshal than anyone else? He's guessing and stirring the pot.

It would still take a series of events to happen to begin with.

If Pastner turned it around and they make a run to the tourney than change of any kind is moot.

The city is a hotbed of b-ball talent with a storied tradition. If we could get someone in here who could recruit, TEACH AND coach, the sky is the limit. Pastner has had enough talent on his roster the past few years to seriously contend for national titles. Larry Brown could have made a final 4 with what Pastner has had the last 2 years. Wolken is off his rocker and so is anyone else who thinks we can't land a better coach.

Dumbest post in this thread... I bet you believe LB would've won the National Championship THIS season at SMU if his PG hadn't gone to China.... 03-lmfao

That's not good. Indiana fans are ready to run Crean out of town on a rail. I will be surprised if he is still in Bloomington next season.

This is crazy. I haven't been following Indiana, I'm surprised Crean isn't getting it done there. Anyway we can arrange a trade?

But I thought Memphis had the craziest fan base.

I don't think they would want Pastner. They are in a similar boat as us. They expect more than what Crean has been able to deliver. It is puzzling that Crean hasn't been more successful. It seemed like a good hire at the time.

I noticed you live in Rosemark. I went to high school there back in the day.

Yep. Makes no sense to "mess with the fan base." He makes his money because of his connections.

He will make money because a bunch of freaked out Memphis and Wichita State fans, and more than a few curious passer bys, will go to the website to read what he has to say.

Marshall has stayed at Wichita and shied away from mid-to-lower level BCS jobs... NC State, Nebraska which would have paid him more money... because he's happy and scared of the prospects of failing. He was quoted as saying he has no coaching tree or parachute. If he fails somewhere, then he's done. That being said, Memphis does not suffer from some of the same pitfalls as NC State, Nebraska or even Indiana (which Tom Crean's failure has got to be a red flag for coaches). Memphis has the best facilities in its conference. Memphis has arguably the best recruiting base in its conference. Memphis has the best fan support in its conference. Memphis spends the most money on basketball in its conference. Memphis pays the most money to its basketball coach in its conference. Memphis is the best job, in its conference. In my opinion, Memphis is the kind of jobs a big time coach can win big time games and titles. Wichita and Memphis are not equal jobs... but the gigs he's been offered, thus far, are not better jobs than the best job in its' conference. Memphis is. If this job is available, and if he is looking to leave Wichita, then are are few that can offer him the opportunity at the fat salary and the opportunity to win that Memphis does.
