Zable Stadium Renovation
The current expansion is separate from removing the track. And the master plan doesn't really say how configuration will change (or if it will change) after the track is taken out. That's probably a few years away still.

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation
Ah, it is beginning to look like renovations are going on. Drove by Zable today and saw workmen starting to knock down the wall behind the last section of seats in southwest corner. It will be fun to go by and look in and see the progress

Does anybody know if there is going to be or is a camera/website recording the progress of the renovation?

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation
Someone on one of the threads about Zable said there would be one, though there was some discussion as to when it would start. Some speculation that a camera wouldn't be in place until next offseason if most of this offseason was site prep and not actual building. Me being the nerd I am, think a camera on even site prep would be interesting. After so many years it's exciting to see it happening.

Thanks Mrs. It would be nice if there was a camera mounted on the east side pressbox to monitor what is going on inside also.

Since the team practices inside the stadium, I get not having a camera there, but a camera right where that picture was taken (or the other side) would just show that back area where a lot of the work will likely take place.

Also, do they post regular photos on the instagram account? Or is it just one every so often?

Not much to see right now, unless you find the art of digging footers to be captivating.

Who knows? Somebody may have a "footers" fetish.

Extensive work going on in the top rows. Part of the wall is down, and seats removed in top rows.

Good point about having a webcam going with practices.

RE: Zable Stadium Renovation
Coach Andrews tweeted a picture that shows more of the same:

https://twitter.com/TDAndrews4/status/58...8407554048

A question that popped into my mind, is how will this affect the media shack (or whatever the official term for the area where they have cameras and some radio announcers behind the stands) that is put up every year? I would assume they can make room for that, but if they start doing foundation stuff maybe they can't...I know next to nothing about construction processes.

Over on the JMU boards, many people became resident experts in stadium construction (including our two favorite things, MICROPILING & FLAPS).

Pumped for you guys to get this renovation!

The temporary/permanent Press Box behind the West Stands will be erected this Fall just as it has in years past. The current work on footings and foundations will not affect this. After the 2015 Season is concluded, all of the other renovations of the West Stands, including the new Press Box will be undertaken [and completed in time for the 2016 Season].

The wall at the top of the stands is almost completely gone, but otherwise not much else has visibly been going on.

I don't think the "wall is gone" I think that what we appear to see is camera/photo distortion/perspective.

Actually, they have been dismantling parts of the brick wall at top of the stands.
