Bob, I know one thing for sure. The last AD we hired was "experienced" and was a disaster. I'm more than willing to give a young energetic guy with passion for the program a chance before I start complaining!

Oh, I have bitched and raised hell about it until he was hired, and I realize that we just have to see what he can and will do. No, he wouldn't have been my choice primarily because of his lack of experience, but I'm done gripping about the AD now, and will be watching. As I've said before, I hope that he's successful, and I'll be the first to say so if I was wrong. He's got a tremendous job ahead of him, and I expect to see "some" changes immediately to try and get more butts in the seats. I don't know what else he'll have in mind. The most important thing facing him is whether or not to make a coaching change. No matter what he does to get a "few" more butts in the seats, there has to be a clean sweep in order to re-rail this train. I know that won't happen until the end of the season if it happens at all, but to me, that has to be done to get me back as a season ticket buyer.

I would also ask you to give him a chance keeping in mind the current financial situation of the program. Like a coach, he deserves at least three years to get things going. But, I really feel that if this AD hire isn't the right one to get our program back on track, we may be done for.

Not a lot you can do to get more butts in the seats this far into the season. Can't do anything about ticket prices this year. Gota win some games to create some excitement. The women look like the real deal. Maybe promote that angle. I believe their is another tailgate planned.

Obviously mine is conditional also since it is based on a coaching change. I think in an earlier post I mentioned that my main reservation to Conque was his lack of experience. That was true, but I left out one other thing that has always bothered me, and that is I'm afraid he's too close to Shields to pull the pin on him.

And if you saw the testimonial on one of the TV stations tonight by Shields, you would have thought that Conque was best thing to come along since the Hershey candy bar. It might be hard to dismiss a guy with a testimonial like that. I love Hershey's.

He said on the radio that as AD he will explore football and pointed to the success of USA, USF, and UTSA. He was going to explore if it was a right cultural fit and mentioned how a bowl here would be a good litmus test for attendance.

Interesting. I just can't see it working here, but I'm glad he will study football's feasibility. Maybe he could get his dad to come back here and coach. The only thing to our advantage is we have a football stadium down the street from campus. Once the hogs are gone, we could gut the metal bleachers and make it a nice 30,000 seat all chair-back seat stadium. That is obviously enough for us, and also more than enough for a minor bowl game.
