Villanova Football Upgrade
Not flaming just asking. Any truth to the floating rumors. Anything from Villanova posters. Read a couple of articles that Villanova has plans to upgrade their basketball facilities and use PPL soccer field for home games for football if and when they move up for FB. According to the articles Nova wants to leave their basketball and other Olympic sports in the BE and is looking to place their FB in the AAC or MAC short term. Nova is looking for National recognition like ND, BYU and BC for its school along with the regional recognition they currently have in the NE. My only thought to this is that they still want access to the ACC if they expand again and are planning for potential future movements down the road. 04-cheers

Villanova football's head coach Andy Talley will turn 72 in 2015. He won't be around much longer. If Nova is serious about FBS, they'd have to hire someone highly regarded to send a message that it is serious about football.

As for the stadium issue, why can't they play against FBS schools at Franklin Field?

Can you post a link to these articles? I'm not finding anything from my Google searches.

It's not a formal plan by the school's administration:

That's not an article, that's a blog post. It's basically some fan's wet dream.

Is there actually any credible articles about Villanova moving up in football that isn't from 2011?

LOL...of course not.

Nova blew it when it dropped football in 1981.

Yes.

No. Villanova pretty much pushed the limits with the 2011 plan, to join a BCS conference and be essentially where Rutgers or Pitt is now. They're not going to do more, or even the same amount, to be where Temple or UMass is now.

I think Penn would have something to say about that. Because they're not moving the Ivy League schedule around to accommodate a game with East Carolina or Tulsa or somesuch AAC opponent.
