HAPPY NEW YEAR (2015) MONARCH NATION
What are your wishes for 2015?

I wish for plans for a new 30K seat football stadium, and ground breaking taking place.

RE: HAPPY NEW YEAR (2015) MONARCH NATION
The new stadium to have lots of parking, a good shuttle system and better/more vendors games so the lines aren't so long. A few more Ladies bathrooms would be nice too!

Win CUSA tourney so we don't have to sweat out an at-large bid. When we do, we get sent to somewhere less than a 7-8 hour drive and we aren't matched up against Butler or Wisconsin.

JJ gets a couple of terrific recruiting classes to replace Ross, Freeman, Bacote and my other favs from this year's surprisingly good team.

ODAF to reward fans who travel with a few extra points.

There's BBQ in the Big Blue Room very game.

I want it all and I want it NOW!

RE: HAPPY NEW YEAR (2015) MONARCH NATION
Happy New Years to all. My wishes for 2015 are:

1. Taylor Heinicke is drafted and sticks with an NFL team.
2. Shuler Bentley has the same kind of freshman year that Heinicke did, but starting with game one.
3. Football shocks our CUSA conference mates and wins the conference championship.
4. Basketball dominates conference play, wins the CUSA tournament, and goes at least to the sweet sixteen.
5. Wrestlers dominate the MAC.
6. Baseball wins conference and makes it to the College World Series.

and --

7. Cowboys win the Super Bowl

P. S. I live to see it all.

I'm with you AGGIE, If I could add one thing to my wish list it would be for our local political leaders, ODU's supporters, donors, administrators as well as EVMS's community and donors to join together and start an initiative to merge ODU with EVMS. The financial restraints of any other possibility will kill community heath for the people that need it the most.....the people of Norfolk (Hampton Roads). It is a merger that is fiscally responsible and what the community needs and deserves. ODU as a National Research University has many programs of study that complement both schools.

It is the only responsible and logical solution. Ultimately it must serve the needs of our community where it is located. The merger would bring visibility and recognition that would stimulate massive financial growth for both schools. Common sense dictates that it should be a priority for both schools.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Athletics aside, this is the critical next step for the university. The impact is far-reaching on every level. This is my greatest hope for Old Dominion - athletics aside.

As the Virginia General Assembly readys for it's new session, I implore Monarch followers to contact their legislators and (1) ask what the status is of their actions regarding the future of EVMS, and (2) to strongly impress upon them the need for ODU to take a key lead role in any EVMS merger. Hold the legislators accountable. This will add credibility to our academic reputation and provide us with a critical link to both funding and future donors.

Absolutely

Any merger of EVMS with W&M is clearly being influenced by political partisanship and nepotism. It appears there are a few political officials that have an agenda and logic be damned. As I see it they have flipped the middle finger at the citizens of Norfolk, Hampton Roads, and even the State. They have lost any and all creditability to even consider such an irrational and disastrous decision. It is obvious they have lost their ability to make a pragmatic and sensible decision in the public’s interest.

Dr. Broderick should assemble a Presidential Advisory Committee, made up of selected ODU faculty and local politicians that would reaffirm the financial implications and the detrimental impact of such a Merger. The financial burden would have devastating and almost catastrophic implications that would cost the state Millions and Millions of dollars to implement this merger just to satisfy a few condescending and arrogant political egos.

This should be a priority for Old Dominion and be immediately addressed. To think that this is even being considered is totally ludicrous.
