RE: North Carolina Game
Points off turnovers are the big difference maker. They had 11, two thirds through the half. We have missed three shots from within 3 feet.

19 to 7 on the boards and they're shooting 66% to our 36%.

North Carolina Game
This has been Malinowki's best game of the year imo.

Agreed, game doesn't look too big for him.

Love games like this because you can really distinguish the guys who are gamers - Malinowski not backing down at all. Sheldon playing tough all night. Tarpey with 8 rebounds. Love the attack in the second half and hope we do the same the rest of the year.

Also can't stand Roy Williams and love that he just got T-ed up.

RE: North Carolina Game
Cut it to single digits in the 2nd but the 1st half just too big of a hole. Nonetheless, I love the way our boys fought when most kids would have quit.

Only one bucket in the final 4:43. Just couldn't buy one when it was crunch time.

RE: North Carolina Game
This will look in the paper tomorrow like a blowout, but this was a nine point game with 5 minutes and change to go. North Carolina is just too freaking good. Pretty sure Northeastern and Hofstra are not quite as good as UNC :)

Agreed. Winning was always a pipe dream. But I think there's a lot to gain from this game and the team showed a LOT of toughness.

CoC this Saturday. We can't afford to drop 5 of our last 6...this will be a big game against a top CAA program.

RE: North Carolina Game
UNC's defense is ridiculous. I don't think we'll see anything like that in CAA play, either. We had our shots, we made a nice run; on to C of C.

RE: North Carolina Game
We appeared intimidated of UNC and in awe of the Dean Dome in the first half. Had we made 1/2 our lat-ups and 40% of our uncontested 3's on the first half, we'd have been down 8-12 points at half, not 22.

The energy of the second half would have made this a real game. Instead of closing to 9, we could have taken a lead had or guys played average ball in the first half. At the 6-8 minute mark in the second half, UNC showed panic, before they settled down and took over.

I'm not sure they would have done that had the game been even at that point. Hats off to the guys in the second half for their play. Now let's figure out how to do it for a whole game.

Roy Williams was ridiculous. Early in the second half, long before the T, he had an official yelling across the court at him to shut up. I'd like to see Shafer work the officials a bit more, but not like Roy.

Hats off to Dixon, Malinowski & Sheldon. Kudos to Tarpey on the boards

North Carolina Game
True on the UNC defense - they were effective at limiting good opportunities (although we missed a few gimmes in the first half).

The zone seemed to be extremely effective for us all game. Given our length - that could be a big asset this year come conference play.

RE: North Carolina Game
Some positives from the game should help us as we start the CAA season Saturday afternoon at home:

*Malinowski and Schlotman played very well in the second half...didn't back down and showed some fire. Tony praised both on his post-game remarks. We need them to provide
off-bench strength in CAA games

*Team showed some grit in second half and played well for fourteen minutes of that half,
outscoring Carolina 25 to 9.

*Dixon getting better with each game...he was outstanding in second half and best player on the court during our cutting UNC's lead from 25 to 9

*Sheldon battled hard in second half after, like the entire team, looking lost in first half

*Marcus missed ten of fourteen shots, including a couple of layups and two threes he usually sinks, but played hard

Negatives:

*Strange slump in Omar's shooting continues...just two of twelve shooting. For us to win CAA he's got to get his three-point shot back!

*Tarpey rebounded like a madman in second half (nine for game), but had awful first half
with three turnovers, no points, and three missed layups. We need more than two points from Terry.
