Players and Social Media
As most of you are aware there is a love to hate relationship with the U of NW Arkansas.

Recently we had a player tweet out it was "safe to say we're all hog fans" and another "#wehogs" As expected they both caught a lot of flack for it.

I would like to know how the other SBC schools would feel if their players did something similar or if they have a hatred for their P5 counter part the same way A State does.

If they just tweeted out "Proud of my former teammate ______" or something like that there wouldn't have been an issue for most fans it was the certified propaganda that NW Arkansas uses to discredit the A State fans that bothered most of us.

We've started a What Would Aplin do Campaign to remind current players to think about what Ryan Aplin would do in that situation before they make any decision.

I still want it on a bracelet.

I hate the What Would Aplin Do. I mean, I love the guy and he was awesome to our program, but we can't keep throwing him in our player's faces.

Time to let him go.

I've never seen a TXST player post solid support for UT; nor claim everyone on TX is a whorn fan. That would be a falsehood if they ever did.

I have seen former players rooting for other teams but always rooting for the Bobcats. Many of our guys went to HS with a lot of players on those other teams and seem to be more for seeing their friend(s) do well than anything else. We did, however, have a roster player go to a UT game on a bye week a couple years back who posted pictures of himself on FB with a UT shirt on and flashing the hook'em sign. Think his gal went to UT.

Our biggest fan "problem" remains the thousands of TXST alum that support UT (season tickets, donations, etc) and never go back to a game in SM.

He is friends with at least one player on the pigs. If he congratulates him no big deal. Saying we are all pigs tonight is way to much. I hope he has one more great game takes the uniform off and leaves.

Ouch. That's kinda harsh. I agree though that it might be a friends thing or he just hates texas. No disrespect of course.

Not harsh at all ...call me a pig and I have no use for you. It is even worse when that player is looked at as a leader of the team. Let him go to the pigs.

I've lost all respect for Fredi. I had lifted him up to Ryan Aplin status, but Ryan is loyal to his school and would not bite the hand that feeds him. Some of these kids obviously do not know the long history between stAte and Pig U. There is almost no history between the schools in athletics, but Pig U has made it a challenge for A-State to make any progress over the last half century.

Calling an Arkansas State fan a Razorback fan is considered the highest possible insult around here. There will be fans who will never root for Fredi Knighten again because of that.

We're very sensitive about that up here. The real problem is that it leads many of us to believe that Knighten really wanted to be a Razorback, and we were his 2nd choice, which is really hard to think about for most of us.

I think what probably caught the anger of more people was the "salty" comments about people being upset by the weHOGs and we're all Hog fans tonight stuff.

I wouldn't tell him to miss the bowl game, or to transfer out, but he should really learn a little bit before throwing out those comments.

With the exception of Chuks Ota, the Arkansas kids grow up wanting to play for the Hogs and you can insert that story with anyone in the league and their home growns wanting to play for the local big name.

The difference is most of those kids arrive realize their lowly Sun Belt school is much better than they were led to believe and develop an "eff them" attitude about the former dream school that didn't want them. That gene didn't kick in for Knighten and Hogan.
