#freeUAB Will Never Go Away

While shutting down a rising UAB football program might seem like a peachy keen idea to the 1%, it is really bad news for those of us in the 99%. One thing the Governor of Alabama, The President of UAB and the University Of Alabama Board Of Trustees are missing is the passions they have inflamed among not only the UAB faculty, students and alumni, but also among the sidewalk alumni of the greater Birmingham area and all its surrounding suburbs. Sure UAB always had a certain level of support among the people that worked and went to school there, but outside of those folks, most of the citizens of the greater Birmingham area who were not fortunate enough to get a college education, identified with Alabama or Auburn when it came to their passion for athletics and football in particular. They honestly didn’t pay much attention to UAB football one way or the other. Their favorite teams play in the SEC and compete for conference and national championships almost every year. That didn’t mean that they wanted to take away the opportunities for the people who needed UAB, they were just not engaged in the battle. Well now they are engaged and the 1% has made the classic mistake of over-reaching and they are reaping the wrath of what they have sown...read the rest of the blog here
