OT - props to the Big 10
Win or lose against Duke Monday, what Wisconsin did last night in beating Kentucky just cements the fact that the Big 10 has had an amazing year already as a conference. First you had Ohio State winning the national championship in football and then you had two Final Four teams in basketball.

I think a Wisconsin win Monday puts the Big 10 ahead of the SEC again in the unofficial race for best overall conference. If nothing else, the Big 10's year (and addition of Maryland and Rutgers - two of the three teams along with Duke who have beaten Wisconsin this year in hoops) has erased the talks of a weak Big 10, and clearly puts the Big 12, ACC and Pac 12 in its rear view mirror.

I wouldn't go that far. One usually judges a conference more by their quality depth than by how the top one or two teams perform...and the Big 10 simply does not have the depth of those other conferences in football or baseball....and nobody ever accused the SEC of being a basketball power.

I'd say the B1g has had a better year than the SEC, better than anyone else, win or lose Monday. To say they are better overall requires sustaining that for several years. We will see if they can maintain. There have been a few recent years where there was a legitimate debate as to which conference had the best year--SEC or XYZ. As long as SEC is one of the two, year in and year out, it still has to be considered best overall. I could see things very quickly becoming SEC or B1g, year in and year out. Except in baseball, of course, where I want Rice to lead CUSA to #1.
