Was he a felon? No. Was he an elected official? No.

So we have different ethical standards for elected officials and appointed cabinet members?

For the record, my position is that both should go.

Did I say that? The key difference is the felony conviction.

But I tend to agree with you.

Isn't this the same as race baiting, anyways? I guess without the political affiliation, this would be a non story. Much like adding black or white to a victim/suspect. Nothing against you, Tom, it's just funny how these things work.

No. Not even remotely. Your chosen and elected political designation has nothing to do with what race you were born into. 01-wingedeagle

RE: Grimm (R-NY) Pleads Guilty to Felony-Resignation Imminent
I thought Jackson only resigned after MASSIVE pressure from the non-leadership from the Democrats in session at the time and they used his "health" as the excuse for his resignation so he didn't have to admit the real reason for his stepping down. (Pelosi wasn't going to do a thing to him)

Another big name that I can think of is William Jefferson (D-LA). He won his re-election in '06 (a year after the first charges were filed), and then lost re-election in '08. So basically he ran TWICE without fear of reprisals.

Wikipeia list of convicted federal officials

Wikipedia list of convicted local/state officials

PS: Grimm should have been ousted from the election itself (i said so at the time), but for whatever reason the state of NY said it wasn't permitted.

Ok? Lol, you found one dem that gave up their seat for a new job and then you found Jackson Jr, who is currently in prison. Or was. So regardless, most democrats refuse to leave office.

I did. And I already answered...and the answer is still no.

I included his political affiliation for the sole purpose of pointing out the continual hypocrisy of you guys acting like only Democrats have these issues and that they never resign. A point you once again erroneously made in this very thread.

That's what I JUST f*cking said! Without the political affiliation, this would be a non story! There was nothing erroneous about what I said, I threw it right in your face. And without adding white or black to a crime story, it's usually a non story too. A point that you once again completely missed because you over-analyzed what I said. Why should I even be surprised. I even said that it was nothing against you, it's just the way we are today.

For someone who has missed probably THE hardest point to miss in a story, you sure use that crazy emoticon a lot.

Let's just leave it at that and pick this up tomorrow. You're not comprehending anything at all today.

So is Jessie Jackson Jr. and Thanks to Him, Obama got His seat to the U.S. Senate. That gave Him the Only access He had to get elected President. No One outside of Chicago would elect a Community Activist Ever ! Jesse JR stepped aside and had Obama run instead of Himself and became national Co Chairman for the Obama campaign.

I think that's a bit of a stretch. There were only rumors and speculation that JJJ would run for Senate in 2004.

Rangel should be gone and Grimm should be gone. The sheer fact that neither of them speaks to the values of them and that part of the country.
