Go ask poor folks if they are better off today than 6 years ago and then get back to me. The only demographic that has benefited substantially from this President has been the rich. They have profited handsomely.

Although my wages dropped over the last 6 years...my retirement portfolio has increased dramatically. I am afraid though that we are creating a bubble that is poised to burst. I think the Fed is aware of this and has as much to do with keeping interest rates low as anything else.

There are any number of factors that create the economic conditions we see at any point in history. People tend to give more credit than is deserved to politicians they support and more blame than they deserve to the the ones they oppose. 07-coffee3

Then you have those like me that believe only the marketplace creates prosperity and economic growth. The government only inhibits it or inflates it and causes bubbles that burst...with its interventionist policies. The marketplace will take care of itself without help. All I want from the government is to make America the nation that business and industry flock towards...not run from. It has done an absolutely HORRIBLE job at doing that over the last 3 to 4 decades.

It would be enormous.

Fracking- Natural gas availability and lower gasoline prices are all driving the economy to higher and higher levels. See what we can do with more carbon based energy ! ! Some folks are saying they now have something like $1400+ this year, especially around Christmas time and they are spending it. Spending is increasing in exponential fashion.

What has happened is that competition has forced the Saudi's to simply decide that they will not lose market share during all of this increased world supply. They have an almost unlimited supply of crude. Dropping the price and increasing production is not a problem for them. They still are raking in cash by the billions upon billions.

Gentleman,

On this board the last 6 years we heard the country is over. Gold is going to 3000. Inflation through the roofs. Hell some even said they would have to move for health care reasons.

Facts:

The right was wrong and Obama was right.

When Richard Nixon gave us the 55 mph speed limit, Americans learned how to use CB radios. Obama has been wrong, but we have overcome.

The main reason that our economy is going strong is that energy is cheap because the "drill, baby, drill" people were right, and Obama was wrong.
The Dow is at record levels because the Fed is pumping billions and trillions into the economy and all that money has to go somewhere, and because multinationals have escaped the US tax system and are making money hand over fist overseas.
Putting people to work delivering pizzas and greeting each other at Wal-Mart is not how to build an economy. The economy is not fundamentally better, we're just at a different place in the business cycle. I would actually argue that the economy is worse off overall, but that is more than offset for the time being by where we are in the cycle.

Every conservative media outlet was screaming BUY GOLD! Hyperinflation. Right in the middle of it one guy was saying stop the presses.... The people on the board then ridiculed me for it. The right was dead wrong about hyper inflation. They were dead wrong about Obamacare. His policies have worked.

The people saying buy gold were commercial advertisers who bought time on those stations, not the commentators themselves. And my gold has done very well, thank you, wish I'd bought more and fewer stocks. But I bought a while back, too.

Obamacare has not worked. We have more insureds but no more health care. All we are doing is allocating the same resources differently.

None of Obama's policies have actually worked. The economy is not better in any fundamental sense. The next crash will come, it will be worse than the last one, and recovery will be even slower. That's the path we are on, barring a major change in direction.

We're just at a different point in the business cycle. And the main reason--cheaper energy because of fracking and the Bakken--is because of, "drill, baby, drill," which Obama opposed, and not his alternative idea of inflating tires.

Dammit Obama. This is obvious a Muslim conspiracy to let our guard down during the holidays by making us feel good about these low gas prices.

This recovery has been artificially created by government intervention. We have created a bubble that will burst eventually. We simply can not sustain the deficits that have been run up over the last two administrations. THIS is why Mach is wrong on gold. Those that are holding it when the schit hits the fan will rewarded handsomely.

The GOP has the opportunity to sit down and calmly and methodically put forth a budget that eliminates waste..including the military, streamlines governmental functions and encourages growth. Cutting waste, improving the ACA and tax reform should be their priorities. These are things that can be done with the help of the Democrats. The GOP has a golden opportunity. Will they seize it?.. or will they do as I expect...sit around and waste it by concentrating on gay marriage, abortion and other issues that do nothing to get America back on track economically.

Tax reform. You could win running on that, but with all the dark money that is corrupting our system. They want the tax system right where it's at.

I agree. I hope both gangs understand that Americans are not stupid. Most of us understand that we MUST make some fundamental changes in the way government operates and the way we spend money. I hope to see both gangs come out swinging on economic issues and less on social issues. That would signal that some bipartisanship in in our future.

I am though not optimistic. I expect both gangs to just blather on about issues that do not address the deficit or economic growth and just kick the can on down the road. Both gangs are basically cowards. Neither has the guts to cut ties with those that are financing them and do what is right for the good of America.

I still think it is funny that the Dems, the party of the little guy and the poor, are celebrating the fact that the rich are getting richer.

What else is there? That game changed years ago. We've entered the Darwinian age. It's survival of the fittest. One group puts us into wars and stock market crashes. The other tries to provide health care to all and is great for the economy and tries to end wars.

How in the fck D's ever lose is beyond me.

Clinton the good times rolled.

Bush- cluster****

Obama- good times Rollin again. It's crazy.
